The Center: Cementing Paste Farm
Now, I've played The Island to death and back, both on official and unofficial servers and I've gotten farming there down pat. The Center, however, still throws me for a bit of a loop.

I'm at the point on my friend's server where I'm making Metal structures (getting real tired of dinos busting my storage through the walls) so I need Cementing paste. On the Island, you just took a boat, tamed a Beezle and ate some bugs. Boas were annoying but generally you could take them out easy enough.

Now, though, I find that even with 50 Fortitude, Boas narc me in 1 hit, every time. So, that makes getting a Frog require either an Argent (snatch and grab tame) or perhaps the most dangerous hunt I can think of.

So, if instead I decide that that is too much risk for my efforts (especially since I live near the blue beacon, literally over half a world away from the swamp) what better alternatives are there? Trilos seem to be sparse and the only cave nearby that I know of is Skull Island, which -requires- a flyer (making deaths a -very- big deal as opposed to an annoyance).

Are there any better counters to Boas besides stocking a stack of stims, or are there better hunting areas for bugs near the Tropical Island?

Why not just hit the beaver dams? There are 11 areas with beavers, unless someone else just farmed them all, you should get 2k cement paste in 15mins by hitting a few of them

Take it from the beavers!

Beaver Dams? Gawd didn't even think of those. Are those marked someplace on some online map?

And if I tame a Beaver, can I have them make me one?

The central "jungle" landmasses, the southern one has four beaver lakes, the middle on has two, and the north one has two. The middle/north landmasses have their beaver lakes on the eastern coast, the southern ones are spread out over the whole landmass.

There are various lakes and rivers in the Redwood biome that spawn beavers and will have beaver dens, they can be harder to see and are not as consistent from my experiences, but worth checking.

The central floating island has a lake inside of it with a river going down off the edge, there will be dens in that central lake and along the river near the lake.

I've never bothered taming them or nothing.

Mm, well, apparently my tribe are all Canadian (myself included), we're now off to move into the ice biome, taming beavers and moose and such. According to the Wiki, relocated beavers will - if given enough roam space - build dams. Tamed ones, not so much.

ALSO, Beavers have a bite strength higher than that of a Carno, and can swim so they can be real monsters.

Well, I'm at pre-quetz range, and with that, you can't splashdown, else auto-dismount. We're planning a 2-man operation, get an Argent or Ptera, carry a buddy, swoop low and have bud raid the dam, then liftoff.
