Home Server DDos Last 2 days.

Ive been running server for nearly a year now.Had DDos before - but this one is persistant.
Constantly over last 2 days.
Its a popular server and we usually have 40-60 people each night Average.
What can i do to prevent this.My DDos protection is on in my router but obviously its not able to combat this.

Nothing Wild card can do about that. You need to contact your ISP.

Im not posting for wild to help me.
MYisp cant do anything - because soon as change IP - who ever is ddosign will get it.
Aim of my post is to see what other admins have done who run a server from home - to combat DDos on their server.
At moment server is in Lock Mode as sitting this one out.

Turn off/unplug the modem and router and leave them off for at least 8 hours.

This will renew everything. You will not be able to be dos'd.

The catch is that if someone in your server is dos'n you, when they reconnect to your server they will be able to reobtain your IP address and DDos you again.

If that is the case, best suggestion is to password protect it and only let people you know and/or trust into it. I would normally suggest to fight fire with fire when it comes to this but narrowing down who it is could be a very long process with 40-60 people.

Not true that statement.Any Server can be brought down with DDos.

Arkservers.net will repost the IP as soon as it checks in. There isn't much that can be done. DDOS "protection" is really just a beefy router or load balancing. I'd recommend changing the port Ark is running on. If it's been going for 2 days, they probably paid for it. May be slow to redirect the port. Make sure to close up the old one. The port will also be reposted by arkservers.net....but may buy you some time. Good luck.

A home setup generally isn't made to handle this. If you were running Linux you could have something that blocks IPs based on the number of connection (This would only be using the computers firewall), but, your home router could also become lagged out due to the number of connections or bandwidth used. You need to be certain that on the firewall you are blocking all incoming ports that are not the specific ones needed by ARK. TCP and UDP. You can attempt to mitigate the ddos, but, without a commercial level firewall and data center internet connection most likely it won't be stopped.

yeah i was sort of goign to do that but u r correct - arkservers will list the port and the IP.
Decided going to go for a Games Hoster and take it off my box.

Put up an untangle server between your house/server/whatever (i have it for the house) between you and the outside world.
Then you can use the free plugin https://www.untangle.com/shop/attack-blocker/
And that helps with DDOS attacks. "Helps".
Since it keeps track of the attacks it can then block the ip of the attacking ips and those are blocked and the rest get through. blah blah blah blah. Use an untangled server makes life easier. (i have it on a VMWare server that hosts: a minecraft server, ark server, nas, untangle, torrent, and a website.)
