Taming the Queen Bee is my all-time worst experience in this game
First you gotta find a beehive - not just any beehive, it's got to be a beehive with bees in it (gotta have drones fly out and attack you when you damage the hive). Spotting one is a challenge in itself searching through the forest filled with Thylas and Microraptors among other nasty things, checking around every tree.

Second you gotta break the damn thing, which is more durable than you'd think, all the while getting swarmed by waves drones. A bear makes short work of it though.

Third you have to passive tame it with a rare flower. This thing will go on for miles hovering above the ground, across difficult terrain, spawning endless waves of drones and likely get itself killed by a megatherium or something else very easily.

Ok rant over. After spending like two days failing, I figured, CAGE IT. chasing this thing on the forest floor is a nightmare. just CAGE IT. It keeps pests out and you can tame the queen at your leisure.
you could lure the queen to a cage. Use honey that you gathered from the hive beforehand.
But because after smashing the hive, the queen could go fly down to any direction, if you can manage it, build a platform and a cage around the hive. (use pillars and ceiling floors and walls if the hive's not in the right spot for a platform.) It's said that these guys won't allow you to feed them if they're trapped, well I just did this today and it worked. I've got 4 now.

With Ghillie suit on and bug spray, Smash the hive with a bear for best results. Cryo that bear otherwise the queen won't calm down for you to feed it if there's a tame nearby.

The Queen will still spawn in drones for some reason even with the suit and spray. Just crawl. In the cage while crawling the drones just fly over you unable to hit you (most of the time).

Despite the drones trying to attack you, the queen is able to be fed. Crawl up to the Queen, feed it - one simple kibble should be enough. Done.

Use kibble for easier tame.

Wear full ghillie and active bug spray on you. Also make sure some bug spray is in your tames inventory and use it there. So your tame also get the bug spray effect.

Also theres beehives outside the redwoods. Redwoods just has the most. But you can find beehives elsewhere.

I figured, CAGE IT.

Actually that's cheating.

And its extremely easy, when you know how, especially on AB,but.. you need to know how..
ARK is about facing challenges learning growing and beating the odds.
This aint Candy Crush. You need to learn,do research, profit.

Ghillie, bug repellent, kibble and use a bear to destroy the hive.I tame lots in aberration

Queen Bees are a bit hard bc they are broken with a lot of problems on the IA, they need a good fix (well... almost all on the game)

im sure you was playing SP bc you can see behive's but without queen

you can use the command to kill the dinos:
destroywilddinos

but queen bee is a DINO.... and STRUCTURE
you need to run the command
PrimalItemStructure_BeeHive_C
or
DestroyAll BeeHive_C 1

to destroy now the old beehive's

then...

you only need to destroy the hive, use fire arrows or dinos with melee like the bear

use the spyglass to check the HP on the hive

you dont even need ghilie suit, bug spray or cactus soup to tame them
but use them is really easy and safe

also dont forguet to press X to stay in the ground without move, little drones still broken and can't attack

when you destroy the behive you need to wait some minuts and run to insta-tame, even if is angry and even if you are naked

only stay near of the queen, they have a different config about the render distance and if you get far awar seems like they "dissapear" but they still in the same area, only in a short render distance and you can't see them

TIPS:
queenbees in water can't fly, they get stuck in midair forever if they fly to the water = easy tame

you can use tek helment to seethem when they are angry and when they are happy = more easy tame

seems like now you can "destroy" bee hive but ONLY IN SOME MAPS, in the past if you destroy the beehive you kill the queen bee
...sadly i dont remember wich maps...
Fjordur work
valguero kill the queen

If you have alot of movement speed you can sometimes run up to the queen and feed it before it aggros

Its not worse it... the games nowadays are designed to let players play hundreds, better thousands, of hours. Use admin console...

spray repellent on you and your tame, use a tame that can one shot the hive. jump off the tame and spam E key for instant tame with simple kibble. ive tamed dozens of bees this way.

I agree with the OP. Trying to tame a queen bee the default vanilla way is a nightmare. Not just the janky broken taming method, but the fact that I universally get jumped by something else while following the queen bee around like an idiot in the redwoods. Usually packs of terror birds.

I tamed a few queens, just to prove I could... then I just started using the domesticated bee hive structures from the s+ mod.

Now, I just harvest wild honey until I have enough to build the domesticated hives. Once I have one (and a fridge to keep the honey from spoiling), you can make more more s+ hives easily. Don't get stung while harvesting honey either. At the end of the day, there are just some aspects of ark I just don't have the time for anymore. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and collectible photo-mug.

You won't get stung from your beehives if you wear ghillie. I don't think you will if you wear hazard suits either.

Fun fact if you place the beehive near water, you can open it, grab the honey, jump in the water and the bee debuff goes away. And it can be useful to have the beehive near water/ocean as a quick grab to throw onto your basil, then go and tame lipo for its mystic oil buff with it.

Why no use rods?

You mean use the honey for fishing? I mean some people do, but if your at the point you can kill alpha squids for fishing poles. You can probably handle the hard caves for mastercraft/ascent blueprints

And that's BS sir. The cage is in the game for a reason and since day one Ark players TRAP every kind of tame for easier taming, so they won't run away when torped or get hurt by other wild animals.
