Any caves or anything a part of them or near them?
I didn’t get too deep into exploring the redwoods on that map. But if you want a lot of hidden caves and holes, Fjordur is another good option.
I noticed the maewings there the other day on the Fjordur redwoods forest. One place I'm considering is crystal isle for the ability to mine element,
Whatever you do, dont waste time with an Ocean platform base. They suck to build and have all disadvantages and no advantage at all to them.
Yeah I've done everything on the island. All Alpha bosses beat, every cave done multi times, tamed most of the stuff, found most of the notes, found mastercraft/ascent blueprints of most stuff, got most of the tek stuff built, bred most of the stuff.
Its like day 886 on the island. And I'm really tired of stuff always spawning low level too, like most paid maps. And even with a gacha I can't get cactus sap for propellent. I stopped going after surface drops cuz I already got everything better from caves, I want an easier way to get element than boss farming too.
Crystal Isle is my favorite map. Very scenic.
I made a squid/mosa trap on the island but I basically never used it. because nothing good ever spawned by it.
I unlocked the vac rooms from the dragon and I've never used them before.
The main idea was I could make super gigantic bases with ocean platforms that were all flat. And I'd never have to worry about walls or anything since nothing would bother me on the surface of the deep ocean.
I use a mod for an element collector. There are also mods for higher level dinos I’ve used before. If you want more dinos, get all the “Additional Creatures” mods. They have some wild stuff for sure.
I figure the element issue will get fixed once I get a gacha that produces element dust. I do have a built cloning chamber. Or if I move to an ark that has element harvesting/element crafting.
One positive of a redwood base I think is it'll spread things out, platform by platform, with maybe abby zip lines so that a lot of gacha can be used.
I was thinking with the crystal wyverns, is that they are much smaller and will fit on the redwoods platforms better too. Though, lightening wyverns are like the king of pve.
Of the two, Ragnarok is by far the easiest for a new player to build to near the obelisk, whereas the Valguero obelisk is much more difficult to reach, plus the fact that Valguero also has tree sap as ground spawns on its version of Herbivore Island, which was the only reason we built a platform in the Island's redwoods to begin with (as well as to experiment with making a tree platform base, which it turned out we never used, other than to collect sap from the taps when we needed it).
Tree sap is really no issue for me, my gacha's produce tons of it. And I use rex eggs for my main kibble which doesn't even use it. And fishing is so nerfed.. Even my ascent pole + honey doesn't get anything good, much less sap as bait.
Yeah, I know. But back when we first started playing Ark, sap was necessary for something important, but I've forgotten what. Kibble maybe? Whatever, back when we were newbs playing on the Island, we needed sap for something. That was before they made kibble easier to make - before that, there were specific kibble recipes for each dino type, which required equally specific dino eggs to make.
