Fjordur resource nodes & spawn areas?

I have been completely unable to find any oil rocks above water. The resource map on the wiki is for the mod, & they've changed locations. Has anyone found any? I can't find trilobites, either; I'm completely blocked on my tech tree progress because I can't get 10 oil for a Fabricator! :(

Also wanted: dire bear & beaver locations, please.

I've found beehives, but no bears for the easy harvesting. My 1 time taming w/o a bear involved 2 or 3 deaths & some lost gear. *shudder*

Haven't seen a single beaver dam yet.

Hesperornis I'm finding. Not _harvesting_, because there's always a bazillion predators around, but at least I'm finding them! The multitude of lakes & ponds on the sw island, if anyone else is looking.

Oh, & I've found crystal & obsidian, too, if anyone needs.

There are oil wells dotted around but rocks not so much. One thing you can do is hit up the ship wrecks until you can make an oil pump for the wells.

There is a bear cave somewhere along the southern shore of Vannaland. Can't remember the exact location off the top of my head. Beaver dams are in the highland on the east coast and in the fjord of the fall biome on the west coast.

Awesome, thx! I'm on my way now to check out that fjord, since it looked like a good spot for dams.

I've looted 1 or 2 shipwrecks & gotten good amounts of scrap metal, but I'll hit some more & cross my fingers for oil now.

Update:

Thanks for the tips! I was able to get some oil on the volcano island (the dark rocks around the pools of oil & tar - it requires a good bit of 'deadly predator' dodging, be warned!).

I found a pond & stream in the east of the northern island that had 3 beaver dams! They're the big dams like Rag, not the smaller ones like Island, so they'll look different for anyone who hasn't seen that type before.

All of that & I happened across a completely unguarded deinonychus nest (also eastern part of the north island). Not a bad day!

Did you find the harvestable honey yet? You don't need a dire bear on Fjordur, just a hatchet.

Whaaa?! No death bee attacks when you do that?!

I've seen some hives sitting on the ground, but haven't dared to try harvesting them because I thought it'd work the same as other servers.

If they look like the small roundish hives, use a bear. If they are the larger ones, that sit on a rock, use the hatchet. Free honey for days.

I did find some oil rocks which gave me some early oil but I didn't have a GPS so no coords I'm afraid. IIRC it was a slope not far from the southern coast of the autumn region in Vannaland. Good luck!

Found a small island aronud 90 lat 45 long that has a lot of oil rocks, at least 2 oil veins, & tons of metal. No predators. That's gonna be a battleground on PvP servers, heh.
