Another possible reasoning is that you have a mod that collects eggs, did it maybe take the egg away from you?
If you have structures plus mod installed, build the hatchery, and put the eggs in it. Lot safer.
If you can build an incubator, that's the best. The incubator will show you ALL the stats of the baby, way before it's hatched. That way if you see bad stats you can just crack the egg, destroy it, and get more. Saves wasted time feed and raising them. it will show you colors, mutations (if any), and the stats. Very handy.
Also im on Fjordur and im using no mods. my friend also just said this morning that all of our dinos disapeared for like 10 minutes then came back.
im using the cave at the back of helms deep castle maybe that caves broke or something?
Just report em and let the mods sort it out. Its just the antics going on in different threads and derailing attempts like that person was attempting.
Since you're not using mods and the dino babies are disappearing when hatched, this is usually due to the hatching animation pushing them under the mesh. Since the game has an anti mesh system in place(unless you ini file wise disabled it) they'll fall under the map and be automatically purged by the system.
In most cases if this is indeed happening, then your best bet is to hatch them on ceilings or floors above the regular terrain but a foundation's height or two. This way if the hatching causes them to push down, they'll detect the mesh of a lower floor or the ground below the immediate one.
However, if it is a situation of eggs disappearing, eggs that their health meter expires on can and do disappear either in inventory or when placed if the expiration was close and proper incubation had not initiated.
That's a different problem.
Go to the steam help menu, click system information and copy paste all that information here so we can see what steam detects for your comp and any potential discrepancies. That is more of a rendering issue potentially.
Also, is this server an unofficial server or an official server? If it is an unofficial server, can you go to the battlemetrics website and post a link to its details? It is possible that that if the server is not using default settings that it could be a possible cause/contributor.
Ok thanks. Being that is is an unofficial server unmodded, I can assume its got of course adjusted settings but doesn't look like its perhaps one of those crazy boosted ones either. But again with you describing a rendering issues only resoved when a player logs back in(not the server in other words) that speaks to potentially to your system.
Again post please your steam detected system information so we can see if there are any discrepancies then on your end that could be a factor for that.
But again with babies that still could be a second issue with hatching and being purged under the mesh.
