Server CPU
So I currently have a dedicated server running on a dual core pentium g3258 CPU and was wondering if going to an i3 CPU with hyperthreading would benefit it or does it not use hyperthreading. Meaning I would have to switch to an i5 for more cores. Anyone have any experience with this. Thanks

I have a dual xeon 16core 32 thread dedicated server and with the recent updates Ive seen activity on all cores at times, some more wont hurt.

I currently run two servers on an i3-2120. Its got 4 logical processors, and ive noticed it starts up using only two of those. If i set it to -useallavailablecores, It still uses 2. I transferred my servers to my gaming machine for a day while i upgraded to a server os. They only used 4 cores each when launching on my gaming rig. Its an amd 8 core, so I honestly cant tell you if it uses hyper-threading, but it seems so.

It also seems their current progress has been to improve server and client performance. I wouldn't throw any money into it just yet.

I would also like to point out, she handled two 35/40 man populated servers like a champ, until a recent "optimization" patch. Now she runs like crap at higher pops. If you noticed your performance go downhill, id wait till they patch it out.

I have a Intel Xeon E3-1240 v3 processor which runs 4 cores and 8 threads. I have activity across all my threads with my ark server so it utilizes them all. I run all 3 maps with 100 slots each and it never breaks 50% load.

So to answer your question, yes it will use all the cores on your cpu.
