An argie or quetzal would be even better.
Best option is finding a supply drop near, upload the polymer and then download it near your base.
Also polymer doesn't spoil that fast, only 1 polymer spoils in a stack at a time (one stack can hold up to 10 polymers).
You can also carry a snail with you to increase the spoil timer.
Hesperonis is also a source of organic polymer. Using a club gets more. Organic polymer spoils slower in dino inventories.
I made my first suit out of my own hair ... I had to make scissors and with a little bit of obsidian that I got from the highest peek volcano off the back of my ptradon . Then cut my hair every time it grew out . It took a while but got the suit made .
With that I bolaed and tamed a Pelagornis and few to the isolated is lands in the north west corner with the Pelagornis. Loaded wiith enough fiber and hides . I used the Pelagonis to kill Kairuku (Penguins ) and farmmed ONLY the Organic polymere I needed to make the Ghille suit . Kill one make a piece ...rinse and repeat. If you pack a camp fire you can cook the prime meat drops for norishment ... in place of watching it spoil. Remember to destroy the camp fire when you leave.
There are many faster ways to do this but this worked for me ... With the Ghille suit I was able to tame a Tapee and the Tapee helped me tame a Qutzel and well ... if can solo tame a Quetzel you can just about tame anything in the game , if your apply your mind to it.
Same thing with the penguins for polymer.
