Hibernation - Spawning Change
As of this update, Single Player and Non-Dedicated Servers will now be using the hibernation system. This shouldn't really change much to your game experience apart from noticeable improvements in performance, and memory usage but in terms of gameplay nothing should change. If anyone is noticing any issues with spawns now that this change is in, let us know and we'll check it out. You can disable this setting by adding the following setting to your steam launch parameter / non-dedi launch command (if you use one):
-preventhibernation "
I think this might be your solution.... add the command and see what happens...
Please take a second to hear me out on the matter. I play single player only and in the few hours I've played Ive learned there are pro's and cons to both sides to this discussion.
Yes Dino's disappearing can be a problem when looking for a certain one to tame , prime example Equus . Everything loves killing them , they spawm in damgerous areas and are usually just small amounts that spawn . So they become very rare if not just extinct.
When I use the "DestroyAllWildDino" Comand I noticed Dino spawn in a hiarchy where as simple dino's spawn first and it moves toward much more dangerous dinos last on the map. Knowing this will give you and edge on finding locations a certain dino you want will respawn... with the hope you can get a chance to tame the highest level one before it is killed .
Best example T-Rex's, I seen a high level T-Rex spawn near a pack of 6 Bronto's and get wrecked in less than 2 minutes. I seen this happen multiple times . It really sucks when all that survive are the low level Rex's.
I would classify these above situtations as the Cons . as far as the Pros go ...
It's nice to let the map open up to allow you to build in a new area with very little resistance. Like in the swamps , the forest or snow. Get it all set up with defences and ready to harvest resources.
Also I noticed if you want to move your dinos from one area to another without resistance ,
do it when the spawns are gone. Once their safe and secure use the Command and bring the Wilds back into play .
I find this option a great way to move across the deep water areas that normally are infested with Leeds . Provided I kill them off .
The bottom line is veiwing it as a problem is a matter of prospective . I don't see it as a problem I see it as a solution to other problems that with it's function allows me a bit of contol over .
I would strongly suggest before making any major changes , test out these senarios and see if is more applicable to use the despawning of the dino's to your advantage , and respawn them when you need them to be there.
I am in the same boat, no Gigas on SP...
Destroying wild dinos is madness if your scouring the map looking for something. The dinos spawn in giant orgies of death and violence. Dont even bother going near red wood river.
