Air conditioner coverage

Ok, I'm having a hell of a time trying to find clear and current info on this. So... AIR CONDITIONERS!
What is the current coverage area on these? The wiki says it covers 7 foundations with diminishing effects the further from the unit.

What I want to know is:
1) is this 7 foundations in all directions starting from the air unit outward or is it 3 foundations in each direction plus the foundation at the center? By the wiki wording I'm inclined to believe it's the former.
2) is this area a cube? Does it extend the same distance vertically as well?

My question is for purposes of insulating a fairly sizeable base in the snow biome. With that said, I already have fur and 30 points in fortitude, so I'm fine up there, but I want the base to be liveable without those requirements for new players and ya know... just incase I drink the beer barrel dry and feel like going streaking through the quad. I'm not interested in using standing torches or campfires as they will always require replenished fuel sources at each one. I'm lazy, I'd like to just set it on the generator because until the machine revolt, technology is our friend.

mind you im only using this on SE but its the same temp issue. 2 fondations out with a despaiting effect thats depletes further out you go and yes it is a squear effect

On the server I play on we use this mod

IT's main item is a conveyor belt storage but it comes with the best AC game
unit I have run across to date.
Mounts to a wall, is far , far quieter than default or most other AC mods and
has a radius that is closer to that 7 foundation mentioned .
It works very well and I'd give that a try.

If you are stuck with default garbage, I can only bite my lower lip as it quivers and feel
your pain.
