I would say just throw down like 50 small crop plots, and get a dung beetle. Then plant them all as narcoberries.
However more towards your question, remember that player crafted buildings /supress/ resource respawns. As in they won't spawn anymore if there is a player building within a certain radius. You'll want to build the base a good distance off from your nodes to gather just so they can respawn. That said, I would look at the southern jungle island, there seems to be a lot of bushes/bamboo between the trees. A decent bronto could probably pull in a few thousand berries with a single tail swipe.
