Why the ♥♥♥♥ are night vision goggles so expensive?

These things seriously have no right to even be half as expensive as an auto turret.

Right now it is way easier to just alt tab, go to your graphics driver settings, go to color settings, and turn up gamma on your computer than it is to even worry about NVG. And that's for servers with gamma disabled.

If you are on a gamma enabled server, just press tab and type in gamma 3 and you are set.

I cannot honestly see any situation in which it is worth it to get NVG. PVP server, it is much more cost efficient to use video driver gamma settings, PVE just change gamma from the console.

There is still 250 electronics to contend with, which is 750 pearls. There are also the black pearls, which are the most annoying part. Eurypterids are glitchy as ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to black pearls so I always hate getting those.

See, I would if the goggles were reasonably priced. As it is, I can make 4 turrets or more for the cost of one NVG, and of course if you are on a pvp server you are going to go with the turrets since those are more of a life or death matter.

Leaving all the bugs and cheaters and Alpha Tribes out of the equation, it's an immersive game.

You might ask what the point of playing the game in the first place is if you think about stuff like 'oh, that is soo expensive'

Why are you getting black pearls? Just get silica pearls...

5 minutes diving around, you'd have enough for 10 goggle sets.

Do these work in the Center SE trench? It looks like the screenshots in the wiki were taken with them. I went in there a bit and tried gamma 5 or 6, I still couldn't see anything at all. There could be dark areas like that in the future on the Island or other maps.

Unfortunately I usually end up restarting maps/characters before I hit 80 (by that time, you have such powerful tools and dinos that there's no challenge to the game anymore), so these are beyond my reach anyway.
