Glass Smithing
In SE, I think the devs have unintentionally opened a path to gaining crystals far more efficiently than taking an anky to a node.

The reason why I say so is because the three main items used for making actual glass already exist in SE, two of which already exist in all Arks, and one of the two can be linked to the real resource.

These three res are sand, silica pearls, and charcoal-if we extend that to ash. Technically, all of these things-when mixed together and superheated-can become glass. And seeing as we already have a refinery and forge, the furnace needed for the chemical reaction and change is already present.

All that's necessary now is deciding a system that works fairly and is balanced for gameplay.

For example, would you prefer tossing a pile of sand and some silica pearls into the refinery to make this manufactured crystal. If so, how much of each?

Or, would you rather the game develope another option for charcoal-to turn it into ash which you then put inside the refinery. If so what resource would you need to make charcoal into ash? Sparkpowder makes gunpowder, so perhaps something along the line of stone instead of flint.

It probably would be best, however, that sand remain the necessary resource for glass smithing. Since this would be universal across all arks, making it either charcoal of silica pearls without the need for sand would be a little op. People from vanilla or anywhere but SE would be able to craft glass to easily, instead of leaving for the mountains fairly.

And for those of you who wonder why I would give such luxury to SE, it's for three reasons. One, higher difficulty. Two, the items that need crystals are either cheap and weak-such as the greenhouse-or incredibly expensive like any of the industrial items. So it would be nice to create this resources ourselves. Finally, it just fits. You already have the real life materials needed for it, I think it's only fair to let you take advantage and add some realism.

If you have any suggestions, let me know. I wouldn't even mind if there was a specific refinery needed for making the glass, just let me know.

Fir lets start with say: 2-3 pearls, 5 sand.
