Is there a way to find lost pets?
Lost serveral chained Pters a week ago when my space heater caught fire irl. Jumped up to take care of potential house fire only to come back dead with no record of how I died in the log. Was wearing an otter and two days later log says he got eaten by a shark. No idea where my mounts are or how to find them.

Hi, yes, use Larkator.

It's not a mod (you keep your game clean and vanilla), it's a little open source tool which reads your savegame file and shows dinos locations (both wild and tamed), in a nice graphical UI.

Link to the official Ark website : https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/296791-tool-larkator-standalone-dino-locator/

Of course, if you play on Official servers, you're screwed. There is the Transponder node but you need to attach it to your dino before : https://ark.gamepedia.com/Transponder_Node

But those transponder nodes are so glitchy.

One of the many reasons modded servers can be so much better than vanilla. Mod authors fix the problems vanilla glitches.

Several dino trackers exist.
Disagree with playing on unOfficial. Disagree with mods. The reason the real game does not get fixed is because no one is asking the devs to fix it. You made mods and no longer care to report glitches with the real deal. Creating a visious cycle of borked game and, eventually, abandon mods as the mod creators move on.

To each their own...

It is your choice to not use the provided solutions.

It's not the solution. It is the problem. Not to mention the peer pressure to leave official and join unofficial to the point of harrassment.

I can point out many reasons unofficial servers are bad choices. Not just the sick over use of mods. But you'll keep selling it to me like a old ♥♥♥♥♥ with a dirty nose. You are not capable of listening to my arguements against it. Always gotta make that one more plug for your wares.

Haven't played in a while.... So that part of your rant is out....

And for each downside on unofficial I can just as easily find an equal or greater issue on official.

Truth is that a solution is given and you refuse to use it. Dont go attacking people because you want to slam your head against a problem that many of us have long since solved.

There is no vanilla way to find lost pets except to use the glitchy transponder node BEFORE you lose the dino. Period. End of story. Good luck.

You too eh? Care to rant why you don't want to use solutions provided?

set view distance to maximum then go out on a flyer at night time, it is easier to spot the green name tag at night flying just in render distance/height of the name tags ( practice on the tames you have to get a good height as if you go too high the names will disappear)

There is kind of a solution to find the missing dinos if they are still alive. It is short range, but if you hold down the "H" key you'll get an overlay on your screen. This overlay shows green arrows over any tamed dinos. May want to try flying around where you think you died while holding down this key (I've found a lot of lost dinos this way). If you are into Tek Tier, using a tek helmet with the dino scanner active will highlight the dino in a green outline as well when you are in range and it has a night vision mode for this too.

Note: All of this can be done in vanilla.

Come to think of it.... The scout drone does this as well. And is far cheeper. (Provided you have the dlc)

NECRO.... TOTAL BS... the bugs and glitches dont get fixed because the devs dont care "WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO CARE." Those that would or do care are on different projects.. The bugs and issues ARE reported, but never fixed, and they never will be unless they are completely game breaking. This is THE SINGULAR most unfinished game I have ever played. They make something work, and then use it, even if it has bugs. It is more important to get out new maps and DLC than it is to fix the issues and problems... If you look, you will see the complaints everywhere, the reports, the people asking for something to be fixed, or changed... I bought the game when it came out, I go back to it once in a while to see if anything has been fixed... Nope, still CRAP for deco, still get STUCK on the mob I just killed, still no roof corners, Pets still cant follow for crap, etc, etc, etc.. I could make a list several pages long. The game works, but the frustration level continually goes up as you progress and try to PLAY it... MODS, are people trying to FIX the things that the devs should have fixed before the game was ever released. But, thats the trend nowdays, its all about greed.. dont fix it, thats a waste of time and money, PUMP OUT the DLC instead... Takes about a day of playing to see nothing has been fixed.. then I go back to Conan.. Which also has issues, but there are a LOT LESS there than here. Disagree? GREAT! Keep on keeping on!
