But with some creativity you can make a unique character without it being a deformity. Just stop trying to look like Rambo or Schwarzenegger.

To be fair it's still possible to have a decent looking buff character, you just don't have to move the sliders very far from default.
Not recommended on PvP servers, regardless.
Maybe I'm alone on this, but one thing I'd really like to see them at least set up is a way for mods to add more playable species (including separate animations and potential limits on which creatures they can ride on and whatnot).
I really just want normal looking characters; average people, features seen in other cultures, different face shapes, etc. I really just like to look average or at least to have a stronger since of normalcy.
I'm not huge on other species, but hell it would add diversity. If you kept it in the same vein as ark then there are other sentient species that have at one point existed alongside mankind. And since the game implies humanity is dead and gone. Maybe there were sentient species after us before the ones that created the ARKs.
As someone who played back then I can appreciate just how incredibly far the game has come, but this one feature is all I complain about now.
I'll be honest I'm more interested in the aesthetic diversity of characters to create a better experience that connects to the lore, benefits rpg servers, and would better lend itself to creating videos. For me the lore and video thing is most important as I've been writing a script for a show in the same vein as Red vs. Blue that would be made in ARK. Everything about the game is beautiful except for some pretty hideous player models.
