Why are trophies not transferrable?
I dont just mean the Boss heads, but things like Rex arms, Argent talons, Basilo blubber, etcetera. Why are those things untransferrable across servers?

Is there an in-universe reason? Is there some manner of gameplay-related reason? I don't understand the logic to it, especially when Artifacts are transferrable

Megalania Toxin is a pain to farm on the Island (for the Megapithecus boss) but so easy to farm for it on Ragnarok.

Guess they do not want to you farm the parts on one map and then do a boss on another map.

P.S. Anyone found a good place to farm Megalania Toxin on the island? Most caves are lucky if they have one Megalania. If you breed Megalania, does killing them give toxin?

The only thing i could guess is since the obilisk operates as both a server transfer node aswell as a boss fight node, the programming could be outdated and cant tell the difference if boss fighting or transfering so they just blocked trophies to avoid problems. Strangly artifacts seem to be transferable but that could have been the unoffical server i was on.

I think it is game design. Actually play on the map and gather resources for that maps bosses. It's a way of creating progression.

It actually isn't, as in the Cluster server I am on, people will play on certain maps, then bring their Gigas or Wyverns over to TheIsland just to harvest toxin or venom, then build a small outpost to store those things there for future boss fights.


As for the Obelisk not telling the difference, I don't see how, since the Tribute section and the Transfer section are completely different (in that, you can easily transfer back and forth from the Tribute section, but the Transfer section specifically requires you to manually drag n drop one stack at a time and constantly refreshes the Tribute inventory)

i don't see how. Boss fights typically aren't a PvP-heavy thing anyway

Boss fights give you element to power tek gear and weapons.

This is about the dino remains; rex arms, argent talons, etcetera. Making them untransferrable makes no sense and doesn't make it any harder to do boss fights, especially compared to Artifacts, which are transferrable

You need those parts to do the harder bosses. So forcing you to gather on the map to gear up for a boss fight, slows down progression. Slowing down progression is part of game design mechanics and slows gathering of element for PvP cross ark balance.

Since element can't be transferred, I guess they wanted to stop people porting in with lots of dinos and all the gear to do a boss run. Farm the boss for some element, then wipe a server using tek rifles etc.

Why not just make it so element and tokens can't be transferred on PVP servers

Having the setting options would be great for PvE, SP, and custom clusters. There are tons of things WC could make setting for, but haven't.

I think the artifacts are transferable because they can be used a decoration.

None of these explanations make any sense, given the fact that, with the exception of things like Giga hearts, all of these trophies are very easy to get ahold of, and they pose almost no threat of slowing down progression in boss fights other than to impose a completely unnecessary hinderance that can easily be handled with just some extra effort.

it's like having an elevator that forces people to stop one floor below your chosen floor before stopping at your floor

Your elevator example is exactly how video games are designed. It is called progression.

Different people have given you valid and logical explanations.

It is just the way it is. We can ask similar questions about lots of game mechanics. Why can't boats back up? Etc.

Ark is about choice. Choose to play officials servers with WC designed gameplay and rates. Or, play unofficials with customization and/or mods.

If that is so, then it's completely arbitrary and with no regard for actual difficulty (which i get the joke would be "That's ARK for you") but it still feels like something that would/should warrant an explanation, like Element dissolving when you try to transfer
