Can you play ARK with people who bought it on steam, if you bought it in the Windows store on PC?
If I own ARK on both Xbox and PC through Xbox Play Anywhere, does that mean im only playing with people who also bought it on the windows store or is it everyone playing on PC?

Windows 10 and Xbox are the only ones that will have crossplay. Steam and PS4 are both by themselves

Steam Network with Steam network
Xbox Live with Xbox Live
PSN with PSN
That's how cross platform works.

Play anywhere is a Microsoft Live program only. It is made exclusively for customers who buy the licenses software or game from their venue. In order to play on the PC you will need to install the Play Anywhere compatible game within their client interface, the same as you would with UPlay, Origin, or even Steam. Each one of those publishers have a unique interface and network that handles their own DRM system and secured network. This is how Microsoft allows a Play Anywhere access game play. They have a limited selection of games that have this ability considering the vast amount of games that are in their library. The last time I looked only 13 games had been added to the list while Microsoft has 100s of games they currently publish.

Thank you for clarifying, was wondering about that for a while.

Nope. Windows store version and xbox are on a closed server network. You cannot play with them via steam.

That's BS. My friends bought GTAV on Steam, and I purchased the pc game and I don't have any issues playing with them. Microsoft just wants to be A$$ holes I guess.

@NGCaliber thats not how cross platform works. cross platform means you can play with people on another platform for example ps4 with pc and or xbox. warzone is a good example of this. for ark to not be cross platform is the dumbest thing ever. windows and their money making schemes.
