I tried messing with the texture quality option in the graphics settings and it didn't have an effect either.
Any ideas what could be the issue?
Failing that how do I uninstall the map without removing the whole game and downloading the game from scratch?
As I can't play the Lost Island map while its textures change resolution once a second I would like to get the space back on my ssd without destroying the work I put into my game on the original Island map.
Cheers

This doesn't happen on The Island, Just the Lost Island
Its weird that some textures keep switching resolution, and that the textures go super low resolution when I open the inventory. They do seem to stabilise a bit once I open the inventory for the first time, but some textures just never load in properly at all.
Does The Lost Island require any of the other DLC maps installed in order to function properly?
Are there any popular mods that are incompatible with this map?
Are the system requirements higher for this map compared to the original island map?
I'm just trying to figure out what is causing this.
Cheers.
Thank for the reply, I have the settings exactly the same as when I play in the original island map, but the texture quality looks horrible on the lost island compared to the original island.
I tried messing with the texture quality settings but it didn't seem to change anything and the terrain shadows are on low, but the general shadows are on high as it looks terrible when you see the hard line of the shadow vanishing just in front of you. The resolution scale is maxed out too.
My fps is the same on both maps and I'm not having any lag or other issues.
It seems like the code that deals with what textures to load based on the cameras distance from the object is messed up.
As for the textures turning into a complete mess when i open the inventory, I notice that it only happens if I open my inventory on its own by pressing i. If I press E on an object with inventory like a crafting table or a storage crate it doesn't do it.
I understand that this map is much bigger, but I figure the game should prioritise what to render according to my proximity. It can't seem to figure out that my camera is right next to an object and needs to load in the best quality texture allowed by my settings.
I did the game file validation thing and it said it replaced 3 files. I tested it straight afterwards with no change. All it seemed to do was replace my gameusersettings.ini with a new copy as I was no longer able to pickup structures. So I had to reapply my tweaks again.
Very weird.
Cheers
I put a tick in high quality materials and restarted the game and the constant texture resolution changes seemed to have stopped. Sadly its also knocked 5-10 FPS off my performance.
I don't need to have that option enabled on the original island to have decent looking textures that don't flash and flicker.
The performance hit incurred is borderline too much for an enjoyable experience on my system, and I would prefer it if I didn't have to use it.
Does anyone else get this weird issue if they disable high quality materials and restart the game?
Definitely something not right with the options if it can't render the textures properly with that option disabled.
I would love to know if anyone else can reproduce this bug.
Cheers
Everything looked like play doh. I think my GPU (2080super) was hitting it's Vram cap or something so I trimmed a few mods off of the list, launched the game with the reset resolution option and it seemed to have fixed it.
Sadly, a 970 might be a tad bit underpowered as ridiculous as it sounds for a game from 2015 or so..
Well as my issue goes away if I enable high quality materials then I think its a bug with the map. I clearly have enough vram to load all the high quality textures, but apparently if I disable that option then all the textures start toggling between lower resolution versions twice a second and it looks terrible.
I don't need that option enabled on the original island map where I have built 4 absolutely massive sprawling bases, that are all filled with tames. Yet on the lost island with a simple thatch hut it can't figure out what texture quality it should load.
Also my FPS is basically the same on both maps with the same settings. its just that the Lost Islands textures look garbage compared to the original Island when I don't have the high quality materials ticked in the settings.
Disabling high quality materials shouldn't cause the textures to cycle between medium and low quality twice a second.
They have this option to help reduce the load on your system, but clearly its not working properly on The Lost island.
TLDR;
"high quality materials" disabled. The Island (looks great and runs fine)
"high quality materials" disabled. The Lost Island (textures toggle between different quality levels twice a second and runs fine)
"high quality materials" enabled. The Island (looks basically the same but runs a bit worse)
"high quality materials" enabled. The Lost Island (looks correct but runs a bit worse)
