How do you tame Hyenodons if you can't pick them up with a flyer?
PvE official. I have tried everything I can think of, and nothing worked quite successfully. I managed to tame a Hyenodon, only because it got stuck in a rock, lucky coincidence... Ghilie + Cactus Broth and crouched the Hyenas still get spooked the moment you get close to them, so it's impossible without a trap. Tried to bola one and quickly build 4 foundations + 4 walls, but after it got free it ran right trough the walls, double stacked walls doesn't make any difference. Tried to use tent and it traps them successfully, but they are out of reach if they aren't at the entrance, and if you show yourself they get spooked, or destroy the tent within 3-4 bites. They don't aggro on rare flowers, lasso doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Could try a harpoon gun with a net, it lasts longer. Also try ghillie armor for more stealth.

I am with a ghillie armor, unfortunately I don't have gen2, so can't use net gun. I thought of using pheromone dart on one my tames, to lure them into a pen, will try that later.

That’ll work. If you had an Argy, you could just pick one up and drop him in a cage , also.

You have to stay crouched when near them and stay behind them to pet... I tame them all the time

Yeah, you don't even need cactus broth, just the ghillie suit.

Yes, the only way they don't get spooked is when you are directly behind them. The problem is they move constantly and the moment they turn a little bit they take off.

That is the problem, you can't pick up wild dinos in any way, in PvE officials.

Try this
This video is from 2017, their behavior changed since then, also I can't just pick it up with an Argie, if I could, I wouldn't have posted. The problem is how I get them into a trap? Also there's way more efficient one, from Phlinger Phoo.

Picking up wild creatures in PvE was disabled a while back, as it was abused for attacking other players in PvE by dropping hostile creatures into their bases...

Also try to not have other hyaenodon's around. I usually pick the one I want then thin out the pack before taming. Then simply remain crouched, and always come up behind to pet. Once I pet, I usually stay still and just watch where it is going then give it a short bit before approaching it again. If it swings around to walk close to me, I usually try to back away and swing out and around to try to remain behind.

Use bait.

And yes, never leave render before it is unconscious or tamed. Not only will they run through walls, they will also simply despawn (a home chunk system is likely used).

You could also use the same trick used to tame gorillas. Just trap him in a pen with a hatchframe close enough to feed.

Crouching behind kinda works, you just have to be very careful not to touch them. or get in their line of sight, but it was so much easier with a trap, if you can get them in.
