again the spawn seem sparse to me also, even though i have it set to max difficulty. but i might just try raising dino count later to see if that makes any difference. i was having a lot of issues finding turtles anywhere so i could make a saddle for my 2 pteras, so now they share lol. haven't seen a single trilobyte, nor anything similar to the beached whales. this is just one the shores though. i did notice that there were far more gulls (the thieving bastards) than any other creature along the shores ... wlhich makes for one annoying fresh start lol.
only 2 pegos the whole time, bunch of compies and dilos .. maybe 4 turtles. theres the same 2 brontos and a few trikes. i've killed off all but 3 of the 8 or 9 gachas around. but those damn gulls just keep taking up the spawns it seems. i have about 10 or 15 in the starting inlet to the northeastern coast. i normally don't mess with the settings other than up harvest amount to x2 and xp to 1.5. everything else stays as is except difficulty because even SP who wants to cap out at lvl 70 or 80 tames lol.
so yes i noticed and i agree.
additionally, i increased Dino Count to 2x and it seems to be much better now. after taking my trike down the shore and clearing away some of the newly spawn raptors, dilos and various other lower level brontos it evened out considerably. even got a trilobyte at the small stream that feeds into Tomash Bay where i started. i'll be back in later and see if its still good.
Maybe you can help me with another issue?
While I have around steady 40 FPS on "the island", the performance on "lost island" is WAY worse. Some times, I do only have around 25 FPS.
And I want to remind you that on "the island" I had a very large base with several dozens of dinos, inside (and outside). While in my savefile of "lost island" I have a tiny base (3x3) with no dinos, aside from my single Pteranodon...
I realize that "lost island" is more large than "the island" is, but come on! I have bought a new computer with pretty competitive hardware, half a year ago. Including a 3060, for which you could have bought a one-year-old-"new" car, instead...
And yet, the aged Ark does not run smoothly? Come on.
Is it normal (and reasonable) that the performance on "lost island" is worse (and not just a bit) than that on "the island"?
PS: My PC specs are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor 3.80 GHz
RAM: 32,0 GB
GPU: Geforce GTX 3060 (regular)
OS: Windows 10 Pro
PPS: Granted, that I have opened my browser in the background with several tabs opened, so I can listen to podcasts, while playing, but that does not explain the difference, completely, since I have opened it on "the island" as well...
its possible your PSU isn't capable of carrying your gpu though a full load, especially if you are running instances in the background as well. again my knowledge on the more technical aspects are fairly limited.
I’ve kinda been enjoying hunting for resources. I enjoy grinding and working for stuff. One thing I have noticed is TONS of Rexes. I think it’s just the map size that’s throwing people off . I’m sure they will make adjustments.
