My suggestion is take a back up plan for when it gets too bad. I have full fur with a few upgraded pieces (low tier) and one Mastercraft (chest) with a 400 melee otter and I can stay in most parts of murder snow with a snowflake. I always get icecube in some places though. If my health ever gets too low I carry a tent and a handful of standing torches with a single stack of Angler gel. If my health gets low from the cold I set up the tent and then add torches as needed to get warm. It's only needed for me when I'm taming in murder snow and want to sit next to my tame. (Had a level 150 Quetz knocked out there that needed protected on a PvP server)
Edit: almost forgot Kairuku, but you'd look ridiculous wandering around with a flock of penguins lol
Edit:It can also be consumed by players to grant the Insulating Warmth buff, which gives 787 hypothermal insulation
Pair that with your fur armor and no more ice cube.
