but those results will be minimal due to the low IPC (instructions per cycel) of the old CPU.
there is something fishy if only 30% of the 16gb are used. normaly ARK uses 8-12gb RAM depending on settings and mods.
could it be that you are running with the "low memory"-preset or the command -lowmemory?
PS
for a upgrade a R5 1600(X) or I5-8600K are a good idea.
the I5-8600K is a little stronger but also more expensive.
with more money you could go to a R7 1700(X) or I7-8700K.
same here: the I7 is a little stronger but way more expensive.
such a modern CPU also demands a modern mainboard and modern DDR4-RAM (go with at least with 16gb 3000MHz RAM!).
but thats more fitting for a hardweare-forum.
Anyway, what is a good processor that will run this game well and isnt too expensive, as well as a motherboard that will fit the processor.. I was thinking something like an i5 6600k, or is this too weak? Also, keep in consideration that I want something that isnt too powerful for my 1060 6gb, but maybe powerful enough so that if I ever want to upgrade to a 1070/1080 that it wont bottleneck..
only the new 8th gen of Intel CPU´s are currently able to beat AMD CPU´s for a higher price, more power draw and more heat genaration then the AMD counterparts....
but in the end it is up to you.
just be smart enough to ask for advice on a hardware forum like PCGH, Computerbase or Tomshardware to avoid bad/expensive choices.
