Extinction help?

I recently forced upon myself the task of beating Extinction in singleplayer, and it's very hard.. Which is fine with me, I like that about it. However, I lost my snow owl, which wouldn't be a problem, except it is very hard to tame snow owls solo, even with traps. Any tips for that issue and other tames that are hard solo, like the Managarmr?

Awesome teleporters... has a tracker that you place on tames... allows you to TP them remotely.

Or... one of the dino finder mods.
