Not able to join friends server with a shared account
My friend started up an unoffical server, but whenever I try to join it says "shared accounts can not play on this server". When I googled this all I got was that you cant play on official servers with shared accounts. Am I missing something here?

Your friend configured it to not allow shared accounts. It's an option

Depends on the host but it's an .ini setting you put in gameusersettings "AllowSharedConnections=true"
Ah alright thanks

Oh my friend wants to know what file it goes into. "game.ini, gamessettings.ini, or command?"

Wait, you can do that? For instance I want to play with my 2 kids on a private server. They do not need their own accounts and individual copies of the game?

I guess they would need their own steam account and I just share my account to them, is that right?

Yea, but you cant be on a game while they are. Its also possible that only 1 of them will be able to play at time

Ah, ok. So Ill get one of them a copy of the game and the other can account share with me. That way they can both play with me at the same time.

I was always under the impression that people that shared their library couldnt play at the same time.

when me and my friend both followed the thread (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Config\gameusersettings.ini) we couldn't find a boolean (T or F logic) command in the ini file. Would there be another way to do it?
Btw my friend put the command AllowSharedConnections=true on its own in there and came up with a different but similar error code

This is about dedicated servers.
The path you mentioned is for the ark game client and not the server?

This is a server side config not client side.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
