How to shorten autosave interval in single player?
I keep freezing on the angry side of Gen 2 which forces me to force quit the game without saving thus losing a few to several minutes of progress at a time. Is it possible to shorten the autosave to just a minute or two?

Or if you can make an educated guess at the cause of it freezing only on that side of the map that'd be helpful too. I disabled every mod that might be affecting things over there, all I have left is stuff like S+ that shouldn't affect anything over there.

not sure if this still works or works on SP but in your GameUserSettings.ini under the header [ServerSettings] try this AutoSavePeriodMinutes=2
Same issue. I have to exit to the main menu to save it :(

The GameUserSettings.ini should have the following line:
AutoSavePeriodMinutes=15.0

Not sure if its listed in the in-game options somewhere, you can find said file in:
Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

My rig is getting old and for Gen 2 I had to lower my settings a bit, which helped. The game also seemed to smooth out somewhat once I had played a while and everything had loaded in.

@Cheating You can open the console and type saveworld to manually save it. That just gets tiring doing it manually every few minutes.
@Dave Thanks, I'll try that.

You can also use the command saveworld before going into a dicey area.

@Silke Guess I'll try that too, already at just above medium though.
I have an i5 4690k and a GTX 1060. The green/happy side runs great, just a random freeze on the angry/brown side.

how much system memory have you got? gen2 seems a bit of a memory hog and even with 16gb i get slight stutters here and there because all my ram is being used
jcewazhere Jun 9, 2021 @ 12:07am
16gb

My system info. I always keep all shadow settings on low. Some maps I can still play on mostly epic but Gen 2 is a hog.

Still a very capable pc but yea gen2 is a few notches above the other DLC in terms of hardware requirements

I forgot, if you're not doing this already, keep all shadow settings on low.
Edit: I didn't forget, I'm just daft.

I think you're right about the ram. Kept resource monitor open and it froze @95% ram usage.

So, thoughts on just getting a couple more DDR3 sticks, or biting the bullet and getting a new processor, MB, and RAM? I know getting a gfx card right now is nigh impossible.

All I can say is, there is no such thing as too much RAM.

ddr3 is quite cheap . i picked up 32gb of kingston hyperx for $120AUD off ebay not too long ago. if you do intend to get a better graphics card in the very near future however i would recommend building a new pc since pretty much anything from 30 series gpus and onwards is gonna be bottlenecked by a system old enough to have ddr3 memory
