Dedicated Server RAM usage (SOLVED)
I've looked through a decent amount of discussions regarding this topic, and I'm still at a loss.

I'm sure most people who run servers became aware of the abnormally high RAM usage on Gen2 pretty early on.

Is there a fix for this? I've seen people mentioning that this isn't actually a RAM issue, or that it's just a bug.

I need accurate information about the cause of this, and how to potentially fix it. I haven't found a definitive answer.

FIXED: It turns out the the abnormally high RAM usage is not permanent for me. After about 10 minutes, the server dips down to a reasonable amount of RAM usage (3GB), and I can play normally.

same problem, after patch 331.7 genesis2 using 12gb ram, insane...and even the island wants 3.5gb, while yesterday with patch 331.1 the max usage was genesis 2 with 1.5gb...WTF!

I'm also having this issue since 4 patches ago. Server uses 14gb alone. Clearly it's a memory leak and I really hope WC fix it asap. Before that patch I was able to run the server and a client on the same rig for under 12gb.

Were it a memory leak the memory usage would grow over time. Not be huge, and stay huge, out of the gate.

My Gen2 server is currently using approx 4GB. Was restarted 2 hours ago. And last night before the restart was also 4GB. Though at Gen2 launch earlier in the month it was using approx. 12GB. But for a while now has not been near that high.

You only posted an hour ago and already bumping? FYI the mods only allow for it once a day. Lest you get hammered for spamming.

Didn't know the bumping rule and I usually wait about an hour and haven't gotten a warning or anything for it. As for the memory leakage, it starts out at 12 and usually grows to 14-16gb until I decide to restart it. So there's that. I just found it odd that my server usually runs at about max 6-8gb and until around 4 patches ago is now constantly high and growing. Nothing really changed on my end in terms of settings, hardware, software, etc. Just wanted to bring it to attention in case there is something funky going on.

Bringing it to attention on steam is shouting into the void. On the ark website submit a bug report with as much detail as you can muster.

I've seen many topics on steam get solved by the community. I was seeking accurate information.

I want to be clear that this is no longer an issue for me.

When I start my server, the RAM usage is near 8-9GB, but after about 10 minutes, it drops to 3GB, which is completely playable for my system.

Sorry I was referring to the earlier poster not yourself.

Ahh, I see. Probably should have quoted them.

So nothing changed? Or did you do something and it went down?

Nothing changed at all. When I start the server, it runs at 8+ GB for a bit.

I'll just watch a video on my other monitor for a bit until it goes down to 3, after like 10 minutes, then I'll join the server.
I've had no issues with RAM being under control after startup. During startup it goes up to 12GB probably because of the map size and how many creatures need to be loaded on startup. I assume this is normal since Crystal isles does a similar startup pattern.

Yeah, I've done Primal Fear modded servers on Crystal Isles, and never even got close to what Gen2 requires on startup.
