Carbon?

Im on the island playing single player...How do i get carbon?... im lookin to make some steel ingots

Carbon is not from the vanilla game.

You only need metal ore, then refine in a forge.

There is no carbon needed, just sparkpowder and a forge.

Dude to make iron ingots (not steel), you just put the raw metal in the forge with wood, thatch or sparkpowder and they are made. Now the coal is done simply by burning wood. I don't speak English but I wanted to help you, so I regret my level in the language.

If you see carbon in your recipes... you already have such a mod installed.
Only you would know what mods you're using.

Ok but i need carbon and i see no engram for a obsidian pickaxe which is apparently what i need....so i guess i need another mod or whatever....i didnt know it wasnt in the vanilla game so i guess coming here for help is pointless.... a few helpers and a couple jacka**es

If you need carbon... you already have the required mod!

If you're using mods... you really need to pay closer attention as to what each mod does rather than assuming that randoms on the forum know what you've setup on your game. Dont add mods willy nilly without knowing what they do.

If you're on an unofficial server, then you could be discussing this with your admin as they could tell you exactly what is installed.

Once you know the mod list, you need to go to the mod pages and read the documentation.
If after doing that, you're still not sure, post the question on the suspected culprit mods page.

Primitive Plus uses steel ingots, for the obsidian pickaxe you only need hide, Obsidian and wood. I haven't gotten far enough to figure out what specialized stones you can collect with it is.

Obsidian is close to mountains, and in caves. 30 Lat and 80 Lon is where i found Obsidian.

Is it Steel ingots or metal ingots? the vanilla '♥♥♥♥♥♥' metal is metal ingot, add metal (raw) in the forge and any fuel will do (thatch, wood,, sparkpowder...) light the fire and wait.
If you have literally Steel, then it's modded, if you need obsidian to cook iit, as many pointed out, you will find many in teh volcano near the center of the island.
When you click on Host\Local then you see the options for playing. At the right of that screen you will see "MOD SETTINGS" and active mods are the mods that are active (surprise!)j. Whatever requirement the mod have you can see them in the mod details in the workshop
