Possible to only decrease waterfall sound?
Hey. So I live in a cave with a huge waterfall running through it. Is it possible to lower waterfall noise? Kinda driving me nuts here :p

There is no setting for just waterfalls. There might be an ambient noise slider, I have never looked. Otherwise your only hope is mods.

Have you looked for a mod that might make such a change? That sound is generated by an audio asset file packed up somewhere, and if some modder familiar enough with Ark knew how to get at that file and had the same complaint, he might have produced a mod to mitigate it for himself... and you'd get to ride his coattails.

One of the best Mod to get this kind of job done: "find"

Asset files that are containg the word "waterfall" and "TheCenter":
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/ARK$ find ./ -name "*aterfal*" | grep TheCenter
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/VFX/HugeWaterfallTop.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/VFX/CaveWaterfallBottom.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/VFX/CenterWaterfallBottom.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Sounds/Giant_Waterfall_Cue.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Sounds/Giant_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Textures/tx_Waterfall_Tile02.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Textures/tx_Waterfall_Tile01.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/Waterfall01Underworld_Mic.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/WorldEdge_WaterfallTop_Mic.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/SnowWaterfall_Mic.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/Center_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/Waterfall01_Mic.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/WorldEdge_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Mic/WaterfallPond_Mic.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/SnowWaterfall1.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/Center_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/WorldEdgeWaterfallLeft.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/WorldEdgeWaterfallRight2.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/CombinedMeshes/WaterfallCliffDistance.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/WorldEdge_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/Waterfall01.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Meshes/WorldEdge_WaterfallTop.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Materials/Waterfall_Underworld.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Materials/Master_Waterfall.uasset
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/Materials/WaterfallTop_Mat.uasset

And regarding your comment, "I'm living in a cave" (lmao - sorry - too funny), I would try to rename/move the following file:
./ShooterGame/Content/Mods/TheCenter/Assets/VFX/CaveWaterfallBottom.uasset

I didn't opened the file in the Unreal Editor but I think that the odds are good.

**Removing a file, espescially an asset file (renaming/moving it is basically removing the inode) is against the CoC and can get you a perm ban on the official netwrok.

Good luck

Having the OP remove the file is not only a bad idea due to being against COC, but it's a sloppy way to fix it. He wants the sound lowered, not removed all together which is what your solution does.

If he wants to lower it then he may edit it using the Unreal Editor... He may even improve it by switching it to some elevator musak or with dodos.

Otherwise, using a mod is against CoC on the official network - so pretty much the same IMO.

That's precisely the resolution I was suggesting. I've done it myself for other games, and I've seen others do it. I'm not at all familiar with directly modding this game and the Unreal engine yet myself, otherwise I might be inclined to try this. I frequently have the same complaint about the audio effects in other games (Empyrion, thinking of *you*), so it's quite possible I will eventually have this same specific complaint myself.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

So no one has a finished solution to this? I can't believe more people don't find this an issue. The Genesis 2 map has tons of great locations for waterfall bases but you would either have to turn all SFX off or just not have headphones on while playing. Please, can someone make a mod to fix this??

Did you research the mod mentioned in the third comment, "The Center"?
