Is ark on HDD ok?
So I downloaded ark on my 1TB HDD because my SSD didnt have enough space
Ive seen people saying that they moved their game from HDD to SSD, should I keep it on my HDD or make room for it on my SSD?

keep it on your HDD.... SSD gets full pretty quickly... I had to move my ARK from my SSD to my HDD.... and yes, it might take longer to load, but it does work if the HDD is decent

However loading times are much longer on HDD.

Why would SSD get full faster than HDD?

SSDs generally are smaller, but aside from that I'm not sure. I have ARK on my 500 gb HDD, and it's plenty. I just try to keep most of my games off my boot drive to save space.

Biggest ssd's are 8 tb now. But OP didnt say anything about SSD size so saying ssd's get full quickly is wrong.

Average ssd size is well above 1tb

I don't think you understand average...

Average is ssd size is 500 GB at best, we are not talking about only gaming PC's here.

ARK with a few DLC or mods easily goes over 200GB, plus additional space needed for downloads, add in a few other games you might want quick loading on and even a 1TB SSD is quite quickly filled up.

If you play with modded content then playing on an hdd can dramatically increase the time it takes to load into a server or single player because ssd accesses the stored information much faster.

15 mods on an hdd may take 7 to 15 min to load where an sdd would take a min or two.

What the heck kind of mods are you using to hit a 7 to 15 min load timing?

I play on hdd and it only takes about a minute to load...

You tend to get a lot more random d/c in this game than most others so the load times are relevant. If I could start a 10 hour session and be sure I would never need to reload back into the game, I really couldn't justify the cost of an SSD to save 10 mins waiting for a HDD to load the game but reality is random D/C happen and every once in a while loading back fast can save a dino death

Of course it also depends if you play modded as Restam points out.

after playing ark on a HDD for 2yrs then reinstalling on an SSD i will never go back to HDD

not only does the game load into the map about 20 seconds from clicking the game icon it also updates the game a whole lot faster as well

So which average are you talking about. Size of ssd on market or on computers. Both are well at 1tb or above now.

1 tb normal drive fills as fast as 1tb ssd. Not really getting your point here.

If hes on laptop would not be surprised that it has 5200 rpm hdd instead 7200. Takes forever to load on those

SSD if you play serious if you play dino mods SSD or don't expect to get in servers with 20+ mods I had people cry cause my server has 4 Dino mods and they cant get in as they use HDD and refuse to use SSD even though they take 1h + to load in vs 5-15 with SSD

More to the point, what are you using to have a one minute load time on an HDD?

I have my game installed on a HDD and it typically takes about ten minutes to load. Even when I was using zero mods it had a long load time.
