Cryofridge and pods can be crafting in many places, including fabricators, genesis mission terminals, obelisks (iirc), and supply drops on other maps like Theisland.
If you choose supply drops for crafting, be aware that when the supply drop disappears, it will delete and destroy anything still inside of it. So you have very limited time to actually craft them.
If you are on genesis, I highly recommend you NOT craft cryopods. Just buy them with hexagons. The hunt missions are fairly easy to do. My goto is alpha velonosaur hunt. 30000 hexagons for 5-10 minutes, plus a ton of other loot. I do the whole mission with a single high level thylacoleo. Be prepared to be dismounted and immobilized when all that loot gets dumped into your inventory. You'll get whole stacks of stuff weighing hundreds of pounds.
A lot of the missions rewards aren't grindable by the way, which is just bizarre, BUT there's a really great mod in the workshop called "genesis grinder". It will grind all that junk up. There's a limit to how many ascendant gallimimus saddles you need in one lifetime. Plus, it will salvage weapons, and produce polymer instead of organic polymer (the vanilla grinder always makes organic polymer). Polymer stacks to 100, organic only stacks to 20, and has a spoil timer. So the genesis grinder is hands down better for that alone.
