Higher "Difficulty" not making things more difficult?
Something I noticed, when you increase the max dino level, the game overall doesn't seem to get harder. If anything it just means you're high level tames end up with increasingly bloated stats and makes the game easier.

The first server I played on was an Unofficial one with a level cap of 67 (why 67 I have no idea). Pre-Dino nerf stats were pretty stupid. A medium level Raptor or Saber tame could run around the Island wrecking anything that wasn't an Alpha or a Giga. The server died right before the dino nerf (back in January?).

Next server I played on was 120 max level. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to play on it, but that's where most of my tribe and allies ended up after the first server died. I thought Lvl 120 would be super hard. After about a week I realized it was only slightly more difficult for a beginner. The only real adjustment was using a few more tranqs and waiting longer for tames. Though once you got high level tames, it seemed like the game was even easier.

The next three servers, including the one I play the most on now, were a "better hardcore" server with x4 wild dino damage, a server where the admin was trying to re-balance the dinos and for much of his testing they were max lvl 30 with higher damage and a fairly vanilla server running the Center, Max lvl 150. Of the three, The Center was the easiest after you got a few tames. While the server with the max lvl of 30 proved to be the easiest for taming, it was also by far the easiest to lose tames (levels after taming was reduced). It wasn't uncommon for me to tame something like a Raptor, Saber or Terror Bird and for it not to make it back to the base (it was also on Valhalla, which has a lot of ground to cover). However on the Center with a max of 150 I rarely lost any dinos. I lost a Spino to a Giga because I decided to take it up into the hills of Jungle South (mistake) and a freshly tamed Manta because I DCed and it was swarmed (Ark Happens).

To me it just seems like higher levels don't make the game more difficult. It just leads to bloated stats (especially with the absurd number of levels you get after taming) . Instead of making the game more interesting, it makes it less interesting and even less balanced.

Exactly, increasing the difficulty will just make the game harder at the start because u can be attacked by dinos with higher lvl but finally when u tame those stronger dinos, the game will just be easier.

It doesn't even make the game "harder" in the beginning because when you first start even a low level Dilo can kill you and a Carno might as well be a Giga to some guy with a thatch hut on the beach.

Also a bit wierd a level 150 raptor reks a low level t-rex.

A raptor or anything similar should never be able to beat a higher tier dino.
Lower difficulty makes more sense.

More difficult thats to funny. All's they did was screw there customer base by making everything they achieved worth nothing.

I guess that's fair. I was playing solo on SE and, at the time, I didn't know how to raise lvls. So all the best of the best wild animals were in the early thirties. I was more likely to lose a direwolf to a paracer then.

Now with it turned all the way up, wasn't really difficult to tame a lvl 116 wolf. Everything else is history.
