Taming a dino like a trike, without nacro and without killing it

Hi,
I want to tame a trike and read that i should knock out the dino before I am able to tame it. A friend told me that I have to hurt the dino first as long as possible, with a strong weapon, if its a stron dino. So first of all I use the gut multiple times on it until it bleeds very strong, then I tried to finish it to tranq modus or use my own hands. But in every try it kills the dino instant, also with stones and hands.

There are few passive tames currently, but with a lot of big mods like annunaki and dino overhaulX you can passive tame pretty much every herbivore.

each animal has a stat called "torpor" which you need to lower for it to go in "tranq" so do NOT hit the animal with weapons, because you will kill it. either use a slingshot, or later a bow and tranq arrows to bring it down, then use narcotics/narcoberry (put it in dino's inventory and manually click on "remote use") to keep it on the ground
add it's food/kibble and enjoy the long wait time

#1 - dont use the shotgun at all. You are killing the animal

#2 - Sling shot rocks to the head torp it out - this is how i trained my first Trike at level 9.

#3 - You will need narcotic berries if you are not making narcotics - and you will need a lot of berries - and i do mean a lot - unless we are talking a very low level trike.

If you don't want to kill the tame. Do not use non-torp tools - like a shotgun.

Also, reading a Taming Guide - in the GUIDE section or watching a YouTube will help you immensely.

Don't shoot it with a shotgun if you wanna tame it! O_O

Knock it out with stones or tranq arrows! Shooting it with a shotgun does not give it torpor!

I did the weapon attack, cause they attackt the players on my shard attacked animals a long time with arrows without tranq. So I understood that I have to bring it down till the dino heavily shows its blood. I read many tutorials, but non of them I read, solved this questions, how to bring the animal down in a correct way.

I got the problem that it is very time consuming to collect narco berries, to create tranq arrows.

1. Ok, that means, I have to completly bring the animal down with e.g. the sling shot rocks on its head, and am not allowed to attack it with weapons or arrows before, whe I don´t want to use narcos to reach the sleeping torpor moment - right?

2. Whats about the other way, when I use tranq arrows. How should I bring the dino down till tranq mode, when I am not allowed to use weapons.

try going to ark.gamepedia.com and read about the game, ESPECIALLY before going onto a server and driving everyone crazy with 1000 questions.

if you are playing sp mode then use slingshot, tranq arrows. if it`s a pteranadon use bola to throw at it`s legs then use slingshot/tranq arrows. once it is knocked out stand over it and press tab and enter forcetame. no narcotics needed but have food ready to put in slot once tamed.

its really simple
every attack makes an amount of damage and few make an amount of tranq, so take something that does most tranq and less damage (a club, your fists, rocks, tranq-arrows)

some animals have too low life-points, so you may kill it before it is down

Like others have explained. You do not want to "hurt" the dino. You want to "knock it out". Slingshot can do this...but I find tranquilizer arrows to be best. I believe you can learn that at level 20

How have you got a shotgun when you cant even tame a trike where are you getting all your mats from cause if I had no dinos i couldnt gather any metal for the smithy and the gun itself... just saying

I'm wondering where on earth you read that you have to hurt a Dino until its bloody if you wanna tame it? Where did you read that? We need to know so we can nuke that place XD
