ark procedural generation not working

I've tried to create a procedural gen map but every time click host nothing happens or sometimes I get an occasional loading screen and then it goes back to procedural gen menu again this usually happens when I just boot up the game and try doing it as the first thing I do either way the problem is I try to create a procedural gen map and when I click host it never actually generates the map it just stays on the procedural gen menu. Iv'e tried to reinstall it and no I have no mods active when trying to load it and it still doesn't work for me can anybody help me with this.

Huh. I thought this feature was never fully implemented. Or am I wrong?

Procedurally generated maps system was abandoned many years ago. Best not to use it.

That said, there are so many mod made maps that you may find this a better option.

I Have the Same issue, I posted it under Procedurally Generated Maps here on steam forums, I'm a EG User, and it started a few Patches back. if you go start a normal Ark, and tab twice, in the console you'll see that Maps/PGArk is missing (after failing to generate a PGArk that is).

Procedural Arks have been Fully implemented and functional, just somewhat buggy (some arks might not get spawn points etc)

It doesn't seem the removal was intentional. This is Clearly a Bug, and not just with the Epic version, but seeing this it's clear it's also a Steam issue. Reporting the bug is all that can be done, and hope Wildcard put back PGArks from the land of the accidentally removed from a few patches ago.

Verifying the game will not turn up PGArks back, I've tried that, so the Install you've got is Valid, just PGArks are missing critical files, meaning PGArks cannot be generated.

Read what I mentioned above. Procedurally generated arks have been issue prone for years because it is a feature no longer being supported in the capacity that your wants reflect.

It wasn't. It was weird. Forests inside lakes. Bare hills as far as the eye can see. Spawns happening 15 feet off the ground so you'd see a flying anky fall from the sky on occasion. The maps were 50/50 whether they'd be functional or not, and you'd have to run through the entire tech tree to figure out if it was a viable map or not because sometimes you would just not have an important resource, like obsidian. I completely understand why they removed procedural generation. It doesn't work well with PVP survival sandbox games this complex unless the PG is equally complex.

retsam, this is not one of the PGArk issues you are talking about, it's quite seriously been accidentally deleted.. If it were removed the button would be gone and it'd be in Patch Notes, none of which happened.

And really, PGArks are something you have to master getting the settings right to get what you want, that can improve your odds of getting what you want.

Devs have not devoted work to procedurally generated maps system in years. They were not fully implemented as you seem to want to believe as their progressive needs as the game has grown stopped. Thus using them and expecting no issues directly or indirectly with them isnt grounded in the reality of the situation with them.

Why you seem to think your wants are going to change that to me seems like a user end issue.

And lastly devs do not interact on these forums in this capacity either. Twitter, official discord, official forums, reddit, etc, in that descending order are your better options for wishing to submit complaints on these things. However, there is just the same likelihood as here that you would see a resolution.

This is NOT a user end issue, what happened is one of the Patches REMOVED a Critical File required for creating PGArks, the Map file. All they need to do is Put it back and PGArks will work as they used to, which was Functional, but a a bit of work to get it right.

even if they put it back, the procedural maps are still bugged as hell.... inadvisable to use...

I use them quite a bit, and I personally like them. Yes they could be done better, and they Do have their issues, but they aren't unusable.

I used them all the time, kept a list of settings to generate some pretty cool maps. Never had the issues people are mentioning in this thread. I hadn't used them since February, but I can confirm they won't load now. The dedicated server still launches them, but the client won't join in. Hopefully the client gets fixed.

Honestly it's a shame. No games interest me at the moment. Figured I'd go back to Ark, and wanted to play with the PG Maps. Try to make one with nothin but small islands. Thanks for at least posting it "currently" just sits after hitting HOST. I kept thinking it was only my installation. At least comforting to know it's not just me, and I'll stop trying.

Actually the button IS gone, in my own host\local screen there's just an empty space where the procedural ark option was.
