Like I said, may not help but I figure I would share what worked for me.
worked for me. you can just delete the mods folder and restart steam and itll reinstall all of them. i also did a dino wipe which might of helped too
nvm the game crushes again when going to certion places (also when i hit a titansourus)

You can try verify files but ultimately will never run well on your pc.
bad gpu means bad fps not random crushes i verfied like 5 times doesnt help
People seem to think this is a game issue, or normal. It isn't normal. No one else I know has had any crashes or errors (aside from ONE person who admittedly plays on a potato). This is an issue with your computers, mods, internet, or files (as most of the complaints on the forum are).
Just wanted to add this does not include ue4 or bad module crashes, which is a fault of the engine (update hopefully this summer will fix) and a windows issue.
Actually - if your GPU is below the minimum, it can cause "crushes" - or in this case, crashes. Running ARK with higher than being able to handle graphical options will ultimately cause crashes due to your:
a) CPU being @ 2.4Ghz therefore borderline too slow (the laptop I play on has the same, but I activated the Turbo boost to raise it to 3.3Ghz)
b) 8 GB RAM is the bare minimum for most games and you can't expect anything other than low preset on ARK - in all honesty, anything below 12GB for ARK, is asking for trouble.
c) The 740m GPU is bad - it's a below entry level - laptop version of a GPU and has 1GB of VRAM. The 765m I have on the Alienware m17 r5 I play on, can support Medium settings, but only if I take off a few other settings or place quite a few on Low(else my FPS hovers around 10FPS, but with some tweaking, it's a steady 27-35FPS).
So what others have said, you could keep trying to play ARK, but lower all settings to low - put your resolution scale to 50% and look for all other options to make this run (such as startup launch commands in your Steam's launch options: -sm4 -lowmemory -d3something...)
Unless you do so, ARK will keep crashing... and even then, it can and will still crash every now and then.
