Lots of Beehives - No Bees
I'm playing solo on Island. There are tons of beehives, i.e. in Redwoods. In fact there are like 5 stacked on top of each other in the same space. But no matter how many I kill, I never see any bees. What gives?

Posting new question because it seems to be different from all the other Beehive bugs I've read about.

there are more empty than normally was a year or so ago but they are still there. when there stacked have you used destroy wild dinos? Just wondering if you killed queens and new hives spawned on old 1s

maybe it's because climate change, who knows? Bees are dying at an alarming rate...

jk this happened to me in Valguero. I eventually got one after many tries.

Remove all empty hives from a spot, come back 3 days later and get a fresh spawned hive.

Kill a bunch of beehives, if no queen bees show up, spawn one in

You have to do a lot of this kind of thing in ark sp lol

Sadly Ark in single player has many bugs not in the other parts of the game, this is just one of them. I would destroy all wild dinos, then come back a while later to see if anything changed, just don't take too long because more hives will spawn on top of each other. If you still can't manage to get a queen I would summon one.

Thanks for responses. I've had no interaction with beehives until this point in the game. So have not killed anything. I'll try clearing a tree and coming back in a few days. My goal has been to finish the game with no mods or cheats. If I let myself spawn in a bee..why not just spawn in all uber dinos and finish the boss fights? I sorta want to complete it 'as designed'.. just a shame that 'as designed' is not so well designed in places.

I get what you’re saying. But here’s one thing you should do in case of a stupid glitch like falling through the terrain or save file corruption, backup your save files Steam\steamapps\ARK\shootergame copy the saved folder. I suggest you do this at the end of every play session.

Just look up the console commans to destroy all beehives, that fixes it.

Thx. Yes I already learned this the hard way... I've been saving just the Island.xxx file. Maybe I should do the whole folder.

Thanks. I'll look for this.

Ok. All beehives destroyed!

um... they are supposed to come back right? It's been about a week in game time and I can't find any now.

Try to run your game as a non dedicated server -- once. Some report that this 'fixes' the no spawn problem. Spawning starts again. You can do this right there in your menus. Let the 'server' run for a while -- play it during that session if you want. Next time you do single player the items should continue to be spawning back. Unless it doesn't.

I had this technique restore the spawning of the metal on the 'tooth' in the island. Been working in SP again ever since. I know what to do if I notice it not spawning again.

be smart -- backup your entire save folder before you do this. I don't want to hear it went badly -- it wont -- but.....

Yeah it has taken me something like 20 hours of gameplay... maybe 60? Cant recall. To see fresh hives after a hive and dino wipe. Yay!

when you get close to a bee hive you'll hear a specific "warning" sound if there's a queen inside

Unfortunately that's not possible. The broken respawn mechanics (for both dinos and resource nodes) will soft lock you from finishing the game on default settings without cheat and mods

Most bugs have a workaround that does not involve cheating, you just have to look up the fix online. There are however two main issues that you can't overcome.

1. you will run out of metal for the high level saddles which are required to defeat all bosses, because the respawn rate of metal won't do it in SP mode
2. the few rexes on the map will be likely too weak to defeat the bosses, regardless of breeding (base stat too low) and the broken respawn mechanics of dinos in SP won't let you get better rexes (unless you're extraordinarily lucky)

sadly we have to accept that SP mode is broken and will remain broken forever unless a team of modders decide to make an unofficial patch (similar to tes/fallout unofficial patches)
wildcard doesn't give a damn about SP mode glitches, they clearly stated they care only about official servers, any SP glitch reported goes directly to the trash

Are you saying that even with patient breeding I won't be able to level up enough high end dinos to do bosses without having to admin spawn them in?

How can a game be so close to awesome and yet be so buggy in important parts? I guess it was always meant to be pvpve and not solo. The thought of losing all my progress to a tribe of experienced players when I'm trying to solo is unnerving. But I guess there are servers for those that prefer pvp lite.
