breeding
so i tamed the perfect wooly rhino 4 me and wanted to start breeding. Is it worth it to tame lots of low lvl females to get more babies?

if you just want a ton of creatures and don't care about their stats then sure..

ideally you want both parents to be of similar or better yet the same level with each of them having strong stats that can be combined to make super dino babies..

lets say you have two level 150 creatures..

female has good health, good stamina but trash melee

male has trash health and stamina but good melee

you will then breed them until you get a baby with all of the good stats and whatever gender it is mate it with the opposite gender parent until you get a baby with all the good stats but has the opposite gender as the previous baby. you then mate those 2 all good stat babies together and put the original parents to the side. both babies, (if done correctly) should be the same level and same stats.

now you can start breeding for mutations. you will know by a higher level baby than the parents that it is mutated and it's often accompanied by a color region change. it's basically a repeat process after that to stack those mutations and breed super dinos for boss fights or bragging rights :)

Not if you want good stats.

Babies take on the stats of either or both parents. So you want 2 good ones as a breeding pair and hope for mutations for even better stats.

Lots of good videos on youtube explaining how to super breed.

The higher the level the better. Check out the app Ark Smart Breeding, it will make your breeding life much easier.

So cant i just tame low level ones to breed and try to get a female with all the good male stats and start mutating? i dont get i t

Yes you can do it that way but dinos only gain so many levels after being tamed so the higher the level at the time of taming = higher max level for that dino which means higher stats which means stronger babies when you breed. If you breed trash you will get trash.

what u mean? like, if i get a lvl 350 megaterium with 465 melee and put 1 point on it, will i get a higher % than a level 150?

Level only matters when taming wilds (aim for level 135 and above) or if you're about to hit the level cap (450). Otherwise level means nothing. It is at best a representation of the points a dino has in each stat. What you should care about is the number of points in primary stats, which is why people use smart breeder or a spyglass mod.

In your example, the UNLEVELED melee (465%) is what will pass down to the next generation. Hopefully that makes sense.

Taming lots of low level females can be potentially faster to get the higher male stats on another female, it just depends on RNG. Its pretty common on pvp where time is more important than perfecting stats. For pve that time constraint isn't so much a factor for game play so s player can focus on getting all of the best stats they want for a dino.

For mutating, technically all you need is a male with one high stat and any number of any level females, the only thing that matters with females is they have no mutations, their stats don't matter at all. Once you get the first mutation in that stat, your fighting RNG to get not only the next mutation, but to get the males higher stat. That's something you can't avoid no matter if you make perfect females or use random level tamed ones. Also always keep in mind that stats can always be introduced at a later time so if you mutate melee up on that dino for example, and then you tame another high level male rino with a good health stat, you can do the same thing to mutate health up and then use the offspring from the melee line and hp line to make babies with both stats.

To specifically answer your question, yes it can be worth it to use low level females you tame for breeding if you have time constraints such as PvP or very limited play time. Or if you just don't want to spend days or weeks trying to consolidate all of the best stats.
