All i keep getting is charcoal. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Got a stacking mod and structure mods?
Stacking mods must go above the others in the list.

I have not.

Have you changed any timers or other settings?

Is your campfire very close to water, clipping in a structure, or something similar?

I did before, since i was playing by myself i raised the xp rate and taming speed, thats it, and even then when i noticed this, i reset everything, deleted the character and the playthrough, and verified the game files.

What about where you're placing it like I asked? Sometimes when you clip it into places or put near water the game considers crafting stations to not be able to work(including campfires).

Sorry, i was not near the water. I was in the middle of the forest near the starting beach.

What meat are you cooking exactly? And stupid question but, it’s not already cooked is it? I mean, reading through the post, I see you’ve done just about everything else... Not sure what else it could be.

Not sure this will help, but use thatch instead of wood. At least you won't get anymore charcoal.

I assume you've tried the campfire in different spots? Tried it on a foundation? Also I hope it is a campfire not a cooking pot. And I have to assume its regular meat and not prime, ie spoiling before it gets to the cooked state. If you get the campfire lit, that rules out clipping into water, it wont light if so. And lastly no mods, clean install and files validated?

This makes no sense, we are missing something very basic.

Is this the Steam version of Ark, and are you on PC? And if so have you ever used mods before on a previous install? Lastly, did cooking meat on a campfire ever work for you in the past?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm genuinely curious about this one.

He said he's not installed mods at all...

It doesn't hurt to double check. Something is being missed or assumed here. If he had mods on previous installs and hasn't deleted mod folders and unsubbed correctly etc they can persist. Also really curious if it ever worked before. Its the tech support guy in me, this one has me baffled so far. Its something simple I just know it.

I have tried it in many different spots. Ive remade it and made it on and off of foundations, and yes it is your basic campfire not a cooking pot. It is regular meat, not prime. And its stacks of meat, just not cooking. I have a full stack and half of it rotted without me getting one cooked one. No mods at all, ever, and ive validated my local files 2 times before and ive done it again just to see if somethings changed, and no, it said it was fine. Yes this is the steam version, and i am on a pc. And i just bought it all on sale, never played it before. but since ive bought it and had it installed, the meat wont cook.
