Can I Have A Separate Character On Other Maps In Single Player?
I know it's a rather dumb question, but I was curious none-the-less.

Sure can, just don't use an obelisk or drop to "Transfer" between maps and each map you play is a separate game.

In single player, it uses the same save folder so thus will see the same character file no matter what map you play. You will have to manually go into your single player save folder and rename, backup or delete the existing character file in order for the game to prompt you to create a new one. Alternately, you can just upload your existing character into a beacon and leave it there. the game will prompt you to create a new level 1 character. Note, you will not have access to any of your existing buildings or tames without using admin cheats to make them yours.

What are you talking about? Playing with *separate characters on separate maps* (as OP aks) doesn't need anything like that. You just select other map and create a new character for it: https://youtu.be/ThP-6gDCHSw?list=PLayRndJ0FvgdXDpX9QdKI02mBFYC8ZTA9&t=141. I have 4 characters in my SP. While each character stays on its map you do not need any special treatment. The only problem is when you need to go a map already in use by another character because ARK does not allowed more characters per map. Then you have to either upload character to obelisk or work with clean copy of map folder (manually switched).

P.S. Some maps when introduced really used the same folder as Island but this bug was quickly corrected.

An alternative method is to rename your current save folder and treat that save as a "Single Save" for 1 character. So you can freely move between maps with 1 character without issues or concern for over-writing one.
Only downside is having to make sure you've got the right "Profile Folder" actively set when you want to play it. :P

I'm not going to switch between maps, so none of that should be an issue. My one character will be doing the story mode maps and the other I want to play just Ragnarok.
