Same. Snail Games can get screwed. But to say ASE is better then ASA is just wrong.

Going back to your previous post - ASA as an engine and UI experience is better than ASE because yes they took all of the mods and things made by the community that made ASE wonderful and simply built them into the game. The guy that designed the S+ mod now works for them and helped designed the building experience in ASA for example. All of the things you listed as positives in ASA in your previous posts came as mods from ASE that they simply built into the core game experience. In terms of engine optimization YES ASE is better than ASA and it can run on pretty much anything from the last 10 years. Snail promised ASA would be a more optimzied and better experience but unfortunately in true fashion it takes a ton of resources, is poorly optimized, tons of bugs that existed in earlier builds of ASE now exist in ASA, and the game runs like crap despite being pretty. It isn't smooth at all. ASE looks great in full graphics too.

Lastly you can say 10$ for a mod is a small price to pay and to a certain extent i agree with you that sure I do not mind supporting mod developers. However, i'm not going to sit here and pay 5$ 20x for things over and over again that might feel mandatory to play the game like ASE did. The community FIXED ASE as a whole with their mods that made the game both playable, enjoyable, and kept it fresh. Do i want to pay 10$ for a new map that might NEVER be finished? No. Do i want to pay money for random new creatures that might one day be added to the base game? absolutely not then i wasted money. What if i don't like it? I can't get a refund. Sure i do not mind paying for cosmetic mods that look cool and if you have a FINISHED product map then yeah lets talk about paying for a complete package deal. Sadly premium mods are overpriced, overaged, and if curseforge ever goes down you loose access to everything there as we saw yesterday. Its more than just '10$ for a mod you spend thousands of hours on' its what are you actually charging me for and what am I getting out of it. The greed is outrageous and don't even get me started on the 5$ pyromane cash grab.

SO yes i will say ASE is a better game than ASA because all of the QoL things you preach about in ASA exist in ASE as mods. In fact i think some things in ASA's UI are too cluttered entirely. Of course a lot of this is subjected to opinion.

I agree. I had no delusions thinking ASA would be able to run fine on anything other then top tier PCs. Hell, I bought ASA just so I could leave a crap review. That ended up changing. But going back to ASE, I found it absolutely ridiculous that it takes over 5 minutes to load into a server still to this day. And that's with a SSD. The absolute lack of a mod UI before loading into a server is a huge issue for me. There's no mod for that. Installing 30+ mods without knowing what you're downloading, just to find out you don't like the server is just dumb. I've also called out Wild Card for taking modders ideas and out right stealing them. Ark would be a long time abandoned POS if it weren't for mods. Which is why they're so hell bent on making people pay for them.

I still think ASA is better then ASE though. Which is crazy! Cuz this is what ASE was suppose to be! Wild Card has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ us time and time again. It's frustrating to say the least. But where else are we gonna get a dino survival game that isn't trash? We need Hello Games to take over this pile of trash so we can finally get treated right.

I dont know... I can definitely see them trying stuff to get people to buy ark2 or ASA. But to discourage new people to quit ASE? They shown many times the more focused on money then anything. So to throw away a resource that can still make them money? Doubtful.. They still want people to buy ark 1 same as ASA. As income is income to them. Just saw this post and damn this is almost 100% how I feel as well. Saying you are going to release something for free and then charging almost a full game price instead to me is bait and switch at the very least but I would agree it is a scam and it sure feels like fraud to me.

The fact that they got rid of the official servers for evolved was outrageous, they wanted to FORCE people to pay for basically the same game but worse in order to get what they had already paid for.

The fact that you have to PAY for certain mods is outrageous as well, I appreciate the devs that made mods for evolved and have donated to some but I sure as hell don't want to be forced to pay for them.

why would i even want to buy ark 2? there wont be no first person, and dinos will fall through cliffs when they get unloaded and be stuck under the ground (they do in ASA), and ASA was a total scam in general, charging 50€ for an engine update, and they didnt even do it properly...

last time i checked, there were 0 players on official servers, and 2 players on unofficial servers online in ASA...

Here's my predictions for Ark 2 (assuming it ever comes out):
1.) You have to pay for mods ( oh wait, ASA already does that )
2.) You're gonna have a pretty game with crap mechanics (oh wait ASA / ASE already have that)

In all honesty the game should stop at ASE because that's the best game out of the 2 that have been delivered. ASE has more mods and they're free unless you want to donate to the creators (which i do) but i refuse to buy a game then buy mods for a game to play on a server that will then spam me to death with advertisements to donate to them even more to keep the server going so they can wipe everything tomorrow because they're to stupid to figure out how to do a rollback and a wipe is easier.

While I agree with most of what you're saying. You fail to realize just how much better ASA is then ASE. Things that ARE better.....

1) Load times. It legit takes me 60 seconds to load into ASA. ASE take 10 minutes sometimes.

2) Mod management. ASE gives you no info on mods when joining a server. You never know what mods you're downloading, nor do you know when you're done. Plus you time out constantly during the mod install process while joining. Forcing you to rejoin the server multiple times to complete the downloads. ASA allows you to install/uninstall all your mods at the same time with one click. Making it way easier to manage mods.

3) The building. I can go on for a while about this one. But, walls are full height, snap points are better, no pipes or wires, different variations of building parts and mods have so much more flexibility for building.

4) Everyone is limited to how many dinos they can have out on ASA. No more server max tame limit. Preventing you from taming anything.

5) The map! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the map in ASE sucks soooooooo bad! With ASA you can set way points, track tames and even find your dead body. No need for corpse locators. And no more looking at a half ass map on a book that doesn't zoom in worth a crap.

6) Searching for servers on ASE takes way too many resources for some reason. The UI constantly freezes up sometimes forcing me to close the game. Not to mention the piss poor filtering. It shouldn't be that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to find a server. ASA is streamlined. You can even filter servers by mod.

7) The premium mods currently are made by some of the best modders. Hexenlord for one is by far the best. He's on Discord interacting with players finding out what works best for everyone and helping others troubleshoot their issues. Plus he's still updating his ASE mods. So $10 one time for a mod I've already put 1k hours into is well worth.

8) Inventory management. Having the filter in my inventory has changed my life in ASA. I didn't quite realize how much I used it until I went back to ASE.

And for the last part. Sounds like you need to figure out how to identify quality servers that weren't put together by some noob that has no idea wtf they're doing. Make sure they have a discord and see how long that's been going. If the first post in there is a month old you can bet that server isn't going to last long.

yeah thats all pretty nice, but it doesnt change the fact that literally nobody is playing ASA because of how bad it is, my dinos literally keep falling through the floor because the developers are incompetent to work with unreal 5...

The devs of Ark ♥♥♥♥ on their player base, they LIED about releasing ASA FREE. They screwed the people on ASE by getting rid of the public servers so they could force people to buy ASA. ♥♥♥♥ these devs, no one in their right mind will buy Ark 2.

Well you see, they don’t want to do that for some reason. And now they’re trying to make paid DLC for other games of theirs and might release a rushed version of ARK2.
