Auto gathering dinos
Haven't played for a long time. Nowadays, what are them?

Doedicurus gathers stone, therizinosaur gathers wood, seeds, and rare flowers. Monkeys gather berries on wandering, and dung beetles will gather poop on wandering.

Gigantopithicus used to gather fiber on Wander, but seem to have lost that ability when it became possible to ride them. I'm pretty sure the wiki mentions Ankylosaurs will auto-harvest, but I think that might be an error. At least I've never seen them do so.

I wasn't aware that dung beetles would gather poop, that would be very helpful if true. I'll have to test that.

Dung Beetles do need to be on Wander with poop in their inventory to turn it into oil and fertilizer. Snails will also generate resources if they're set to wander, and snails poop cementing paste. But without using something like the S+ Collector, I don't know of any way to gather the little nuggets of paste besides following the snails and collecting by hand.

A single gacha (or mated pair) will pick up lots of things on the ground in front of them, including poop. They won't *eat* poop, but they will collect it. But only if they're not too close to any other gachas - any other same-gender gacha in a range of less than 13 foundations will make them "sad," and they'll refuse to pick anything up or convert edible items into resources.

I don't remember anything with the ability to auto-collect eggs. Oviraptors can be directed to grab eggs, but won't do it automatically. So it's really only barely useful for grabbing wild eggs without getting stomped by the parents I doubt they'll change at this point.

In terms of "I wish they could," I think it would be very helpful if pegomastax automatically gathered gacha crystals. It would be thematic (they like to collect shiny things) and it would actually give any reason at all to tame them besides trolling in PVP or "pity tames" because you feel sorry for them. (Which I have totally never done, nope, not at all. Well, okay maybe a few times.)

Luckily the snails also stock CP in their inventory over time. At a very favorable rate I might add; my new level 20 (now 30) makes stacks of 30 CP I dunno once an hour maybe. Bit OP I suspect.

Pegos are also the only accidental tame yes?

Otters will likely get something from wandering, as they kill fish.
Onzman Oct 12, 2020 @ 12:57pm
Also - Castaroides (beavers) auto gather wood.

And cats from the Atlas mod of I remember correctly, so:
-beaver
-therizino
-smol monky
-chung monky
-otter
-doedi
-gacha
-oviraptor (sort of, only boost eggs around)
Am I correct?

Yes, if you carry a full stack of mejoberries in the last item slot they can self-tame when they try to mug you. I think that might also happen if you have any kind of kibble there (like if you're passive taming anything else) but I've never intentionally tested that. I do keep a stack of berries there in pego country to keep them from trying to steal anything else, and I've definitely had low-ish level ones self-tame when they grab the snacks.

Which is at least an improvement over the narfing demon gulls, who will aggro on you then harass you until they either strip you of anything edible or you blow them out of the sky. (And I think they definitely should suffer the full effects of what they steal - a demon gull who scarfs down a full stack of biotoxin should drop from the sky in a freaking COMA. OnO )

Untrue.

Nobody mentioned the Moschops, who does auto gathering too IIRC.

You have to throw otters into the water either on aggressive or by targeting a specific fish, from what I remember. It's a bad idea to put them on aggressive, because they'll attack everything. They'll get shredded by a big school of salmon, and a trike or stego who wanders up to the beach will stomp them into raspberry jam.

Demon Gulls *do* have a mode where they'll hunt continuously without bringing their catch back to you. I personally don't like using it, because again they'll just keep killing until something gets annoyed and flattens them. You also lose the main benefit of fishing with a devil gull - the shiny gold "gull spit" buff that they add to the corpse of anything they can snatch up and kill. The buff gives you Prime Fish and Prime Meat from anything, even dodos and coeleocanth. If the devil gull is just chomping everything, you only get a pile of fish meat. (Or regular meat if they snatch a dodo.)

Oh, and giant mole rats from Aberration will auto-gather mushrooms if you leave them standing next to a patch. I don't know that they gather *anything* on Wander, but they'll keep browsing on mushrooms until they've filled half their weight allowance. They'll also (and accidentally) gather berries if the plant is in the AoE of their bite, but I don't think they'll do that unless there's mushrooms mixed in. So they'll only do anything on Aberration, Crystal Isles (and *maybe* the Aberration cave on Valguero?)
