What? Its fact that you can't play crossplay. One small reason is the mod reason. One of 100 reasons. Facts.
There's Official Servers that "Crossplay" Epic Store and Steam just fine, despite Epic Store not having any access to Mods in any shape or form. So the "Because Mods" reason is complete garbage. :P
It's just a case of Epic Store players can't play on servers that HAVE mods on them, but that doesn't mean there can't be a Cross-Play between Epic Store and Steam players.
PlayStation is not and hasn't really ever been one to support Cross-Play endeavors for much of anything, which is the MAIN REASON that PlayStation doesn't offer Cross-Play with a whole buttload of things.
Xbox typically only Cross-Plays with OTHER Microsoft platforms, so if you'd say have a Game on Xbox and your buddy has the same game via Windows Store.. There's a good chance you could Cross-Play.
Seeing as ARK isn't exactly on any of these particular "bridge platforms", the only "Cross-Play" available is via Steam & Epic Games. Granted both are on PC but they are still handled differently to the extent that there are enabled limitations and restrictions on one vs the other.
But from a Console and a PC player playing together. I couldn't find anything about that on the Wiki at all. Doesn't mean Xbox and (if ARK is on Windows Store) couldn't play together. But that'd be the only way.
I was referring to the OP who claimed there were special servers where they "read" it was possible
No, it isn't garbage. Epic store will have mods next year. It is a totally fact that the consoles can't handle mods.
Because that I say ONE reason.
Ehm, you don't quote anyone. Your post was straight after mine..
Not that they can't handle mods, it's just that they don't access to those mods.
There are games out there that do have Console Friendly modifications made to them you know. To say that Console can't handle mods is just silly.
Also you need to cool your jets.
Just because someone posts after you doesn't mean they were talking to you if there is no quote to begin with. Zerassar wasn't talking you, there was no quoting involved, nothing was directed at you.
No reason to get all upset because what they posted AFTER you posted.
You're new to this whole thing, aren't you?
Else you're ... one thing i can't really write down without a Mod getting moody again.
To my knowledge, Epic has not specified that they would have modded content available for Epic users of Ark "next year". Instead they made a general statement that they were working on having modded content accessible for epic users "in the future".
And just to try to better clarify for the OP or others who might stumble into this mess:
Steam= Crossplay with Epic users allowed if and only if:
1. -crossplay command is enabled on a server.
2. The server is a dedicated server. Non dedicated cannot be done.
3. No modded content.
PS4= No crossplay with any other platform.
Xbox= Crossplay with Microsoft Store purchased Win10(UWP) versions of Ark only. This is because UWP is the Universal Windows Platform that is shared between the two. No other platform cross play otherwise is allowed.
Wildcard devs in the past have said that they've had internally at their office all platforms able to crossplay with each other(so dont start blaming wc on that or some technical reason). They do not because of those companies wanting their markets to be more exclusive for this title.
