As with all events, they throw a patch to add event assets in then remove them after some time. This is why the Xmas event doesn't work right if you use the launch command.
No problem! They do typically push the update around 5:00 pm GMT as stated above, there should be a fairly sizable patch. You should also keep an eye on their Twitter as well if they need to delay the update (they did for Fear Evolved this year).
anyone know of any updates?
This no longer works anymore so please stop telling people it does. They removed Activeevents a while back to reduce game size. Content for each event is deleted from your system after the event is over. You might still be able to get like colored dinos or other stuff that does not require game files to exist but you will not get Easter eggs for the Easter event or pumpkins for the Halloween event. If the content has not been deployed yet for the Turkey event then activating will not do anything.
You can still activate the events, however, only some items will still remain, most notably the dino colors. I had the summer event active for 2 months after it was removed and i still had the items in the cooking pot as well as the colored dinos.
The "core" of the events are removed. Things like Raptor Claus or DodoRex are removed afterwards.
Alternately, if you're playing singleplayer, is it possible to spawn in the cosmetic item(s) you wanted?
(I'm guessing not, if the rest of the thread is accurate; but it may be worth testing in a separate save.)
