Given the fact your talking about validating game files and two files invalid it's safe to say you did something wrong in the first place, that was running the server through the fully installed game.
If you have no clue what you're doing wouldn't it been wiser to ask for help prior starting the server? Cause every other "Admin" doesn't seem to have your problems with updating.
Cause then people would have suggested using the Ark Server Manager (ASM) for setting up and maintaining the Server to prevent the problems you're in now.
And without seeing the crashlog, information about the hardware and mods you're running on the server it is nearly impossible to offer any help at all. Again over 50k unofficial Server are running on v317 so there is no general problem at all.
Uhm Yes the Server Version is v317.1 for everyone while the Client Version is v317.2 (Except Linux maybe, that would be another story)
But that doesn't prevent the Client from connecting to the Server. That would, usually, only be a problem if the Major Version Number (317) would be different on either side (Usually cause in some very rare cases even a minor version number could cause those problems, but that would be clearly stated in the Patchnotes and would afflict everyone else too, hence there would be more postings then just 3 People)
The dev's cannot update your server for you. It is on you to make sure you update.
My dad tried it to start normally from the game, still the old server version
And he tried it to start as he usually do from some ".bat" file but it won't work either way. We don't know what we do wrong, the server won't update no matter how we try x.x
Are you using the dedicated server that is in the game in Steam?
Uhm yes? If you play ark and start from there the deticated server it will show the old version. I hope I understood the question correctly English isn't my first language sorry x. X
My dad starts usually a other way but it won't work either.
Usually we run server via steam cmd install, which is a much leaner version, so that might have added to the confusion cause that steam cmd version just works.
So my advice to those running their server through the Full game is either do the work and install and run the server via steam cmd (Using the Ark Server Manager will be helpful then) or bring that Problem up to the Devs either via Twitter or their actual Website: https://survivetheark.com
Since they don´t publish any references about howto configure servers like officials,
we are stuck guessing.
That´s ARKs very own behaviour since years.
LAN Servers are like linux clients a very low priority for them,
i don´t expect bugfixes anytime soon.
Only workaround for me is to stick to "paid" maps .. they only crash every now and then now.
( CrystalIsles - Timeout problem so map doesn´t work at all .. / Extinction (paid) - Random crashes but partially playable .. )
That's the server I meant my husband and I were using. It is through the full game. I did write support and bring it to their attention when I wrote them and all I got back from them was a generic response about them not helping with server issues. I'm looking into ARK Server manager now to avoid this again.
