Ark lags background processes
So weirdly enough ARK seems to be the only game that does this, I will have youtube or video chat going on in a second monitor and the video feed would lag like crazy. It *SHOULDNT* be hardware issues
Ryzen 7 2700x CPU
RTX 2070 GPU
16gb ddr3 3100mhz ram

Things Ive done to try to remedy this:
Set Affinity
Set Priority
Run other application as Admin
Close out of everything else
Tried DX10 (with limited success)
Minimum settings
Update drivers
Tinkered with community recommended startup parameters
Cry
Disabled majority of startup applications
Opened up Msconfig and disabled vast majority of unneeded/nonmicrosoft services
Scanned for viruses
Scanned again
Restart PC
Cry again

Other than that I have no earthly clue as to what it could be. Maybe a memory leak?

Doubt it's a memory leek, firstly you normally wouldn't experience the issue until you'd been playing for quite a while with a memory leak issue, and secondly if there was a memory leak issue it would be more commonly talked (i.e complained) about.

Have you monitored usage of GPU and CPU to see how capped out either of those are while you are playing? Ark is pretty demanding.

You also left out any mention of your hard drive, and disk i/o activity could be the culprit.

Im currently moving it to my SSD instead of having it on my HDD (neither of which are my C drive)

Try a different browser to watch netflix/youtube in, It happens to me too if i'm watching something in chrome and have a game running in background, the video lags every 2 mins or so no matter what game is running alongside it. I don't think I had this issue using firefox. 'I think' its down to the gpu bandwidth streaming high quality videos, it rarely happens to me on low quality. Might not be same thing but try low quality streams.

I had similar issues with Chrome when playing a different game some years ago and switched to Firefox for that reason. Been using Firefox ever since...don't have Chrome even installed on my PC anymore, so can't say if I'd have the issue with Ark.

im having the same issue and its not just chrome discord spotif or any other app i open lags when im playing ark and only ark why? (note my pc isnt bad i just bought it this year and it has RTX 4060ti and all that stuff so it shouldnt be because of hardware i think?)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
