Blue Obelisk location, the Island, safe spot?

I have a base on the south east side of The Island, but when I need metal, obsidian and crystal in larger quantitiesI've taken to fast traveling over to a small forward base right near the blue obelisk, and then picking up my dnos at the obelisk itself (transferred from green)

My question, if anyone can answer...is there EVER anything hostile that makes its way all the way up to the blue obelisk itself?

I always bring guard dinos along, but I've yet to ever need them...just looking to cut out one step out of the process of transferring things from Green->Blue and then back if it is safe to do so.

I have never been attacked by anything at the blue obelisk ever since it was put at the snow.
That doesn't mean it can't happen, but I wouldn't expect anything to ever appear there besides maybe an argent since they fly, but one argent isn't hard to deal with on foot anyway.
Keep some guards there just in case but I wouldn't worry about it too much, and instead of guards once you get the ability a single turret would also work just fine.

Doh! That's a good idea!

Wasn't until yesterday that I could actually build right up at the obelisk...so I never thought of that.

To explain, I noticed yesterday that my server was set to not allow building at resource rich areas, and I realized that's why I had to build my forward base slightly downslope from the obelisk itself. That setting is now disabled.

Yea the setting makes sense on big servers but if you're alone or on a small server with friends it's more of a bothersome restriction.
Build right up at the obelisk and throw a turret on the roof to shoot any odd rogue argy and your method should work fine.

Blue is safe, a bit downslope you have a chance to encounter giga's but at the top you're safe. The Island obelisks are really safe overall actually.

Thanks for confirming...and yes, I've noticed that about the obelisks on the island. It's why I use them so much just to get around for resource gathering. But the game has surprised me before with sudden attacks where I don't expect them so I'm also paranoid. LOL

I've occasionally found raptors and dilos and such at the red and green obis, but nothing serious. I agree that you shouldn't be terribly concerned at the obis, they're some of the safest places on the island, so very minimal protection should be enough.

The worst thing I ran into at an obelisk...so far, was a Therizinosaur at the Red when my Survivor was like.. level 9... I ran really really fast, far far away.

On scorched its a whole other story, but the worst is aberration hands down, those obelisks are pain at first

I'm actually looking forward to doing those maps.

I miss how terrified I was literally ALL the time, when I first started playing on the Island. Now I only get that feeling when I go deep Sea diving and that is, in part, because I have a fear of being underwater in real life (not full blown thalassophobia...but a pretty intense aversion to deep water).

My favorite is aberration, that map is intense
