triangle and "circle" foundations

So i have seen some people using a mixture of square and tri foundations to make semi circles (circles with some what jagged edges). Any way the point, I can make a semi circle 2F out, but I can't figure out more than that while still getting a constant bend to the semi circle (at least without crazy complex over lapping). Can any one tell me the pattern if there is one? or tell me how to get only 3 out cuz that is all I want for the base/tower. (BTW I have S+ so go nuts)
