However because things will derender outside of render range. if it wanders to far from you it will be stuck at that location until you render the area in again.
Edit: Almost forgot. There's also the encumber trick. Load'em up so they can't move, then activate wander. Usually used for Oviraptors.
Thanks for sharing this!
I'm new to the game and wouldn't have thought of that.
Or have then follow a passive tame, that way they can't move too far.
How do you give them orders to follow another dino? I only know how to whistle to have them follow me.
Thats what I meant.
For example, you have a Phiomia in a large area of bushes you wanna have a Bigfoot harvest for fiber. You sit in the Phiomia, whistle the Ape to follow the Phiomia and then set the Ape to wander. He'll try to wander around, but if he gets too far away, he'll try to "follow" again.
OH! I never realized that if you are riding when you whistle, they follow the dino you are on rather than you even if you dismount.
I just tried it, and it works very well. Thank you!
But if I want them to collect a resource, would encumbrance keep them from doing that?
Yes, it would. Iirc, dinos will auto-harvest to 75% of their weight and than they'll stop.
So if I’m wanting them to harvest, it would be a waste to do that I’d assume haha
Tbh, it is kinda pointless to have them on wander to harvest stuff... It is possible, but way faster to just ride the dino and do it yourself.
Only "reason" would be to, idk, roleplay and have something moving around the base. It looks cool, but is inefficient.
Hmmmmm.... yeah, kinda have a point...
