Cave Entrance(black pearls)
Trying to find the easiest way to find black pearls on Valguero. I have scuba gear, but my only water tame is a lvl 20 Spino, so obviously I’m not 100% safe. Best location to try?

Are they fast? I have a megalodon around lvl 30 now... so I have more speed than the Spino was... I’ll check out that video, thanks.

Well ive tried two times so far. First time I was attacked near the entrance by about 5 megas, was able to kill them, but then had to heal my mega for what seemed like hours. Not to mention those damn jellyfish. Second time I got into the cave and had 4 eels attack me. Killed them and healing again now. I think I need a jetpack.....

I was on a baryonyx, fortunately I am closed to the entrance so I am able to escape the underground ocean, but nearly got me killed.

Yeah I made a dumb decision to go down without a strong creature.

I think plesiosaur is the fastest creature in the ocean, so outrun is literally, impossible. However I discovered that they are quite clumsy with large turning radius, so although you cant outrun them, you wont get "locked" inside the swarm like dunkleosteus, so you can try to get out of the danger zone.

More importantly, the entire underground ocean seems to be treated as "deep sea". normally those deep sea creature will refuse reaching the shallow water. But here, you can't dodge them at the ocean ceiling.

A Basi + some sarcos are best. I dont use Megalodons. Sarcos are very easy to tame - they are a first day tame.

They just seem too slow in water.

I finally got down deep and ran into a few Plesiosaurs. I got lost and thought I’d be a goner. I finally found my way out and decided I really don’t need black pearls that bad yet....

Black pearl in valguero is much harder that in rag. One of the best location for black pearl I have found is the lost temple, by killing some eurypterid in the water pools. Each run can yield around 30-50 pearls.

I’ll have to find this temple

It's just a matter of going in with the correct tame (a basilo) and knowing where to look (either edge of the volcanic chasm on the ocean floor). I won't quote exact numbers because I play a modded server but black pearls on Val are a 10 min run if you know what you are doing and there is no other official map that has them in such high quantities in such a short farming run.

Debatable.
Rag just off the shore you can swim and pick up a lot by hand.
Genesis (Volcano) and Aberration (Drake Trench) you can pick up a lot by hand or whip.
Crystal Isles, you use Angler fish and grab a couple thousand quickly north of the Redwoods.
I would say, from my experience, Crystal Isles and an Angler fish is the quickest with most yield per run.

Yes tamed imprinted megalodons are slightly slower (5% difference) than tamed imprinted sarcos (vanilla rates).
