How do I decrease server startup time?
It takes my server 20 minutes (1200) seconds to launch. I have a 6core12thread clocked to 4ghz. It's on a nice HDD. It used to take 10 minutes to launch when I was playing last year. The server is only a brand new clean TheIsland.

I'd venture to say loading wise you're better off on an SDD as is usually the case but I do not know if there is a different variable to consider when its as a server or not.

Is this a server you made for yourself? Private? I am wondering how to do this for my RL friends.

Don´t know if its an option but maybe switch to linux ?

Back when i ran server on my own hardware i remember startup time up to 5 min but nowhere close to 20 min.

20 min. only occured when using generated maps.

Get an ssd and eliminate the mods.

My server is in an old i7 2600 and sata ssd with 4 lightweight mods. Starts in about 250 seconds. Without mods it's about 90 seconds.

Edit, Win 10 pro.

I have no mods. 1200/90.. that's about 13x faster. I guess I just have a really bad hard drive bottleneck? I'll have to check when launching the server next time... This new HDD is 2~3x faster than my old one too... 20 minutes seems excessively long

I've hosted Ark servers for years and for some reason lately they have been taking 5-10 min to start and they never did prior. This is using ASM and on SSD.. Sometimes they literally don't even start and I have to try again.. Something has changed

Mine has always taken 10 minutes on my crappy laptop with an SSD. If you don't shut your computer down the next time it starts is much faster. That's with only two mods. Both lightweight.

Sometimes mine doesn't start either

Mine start without fail every time. I've been hosting them on that computer since the winter of 2015. Not once have they ever failed to start. I wonder what is going on that yours fail to start? That is very odd. I wonder if the time to start is related to the failures?

Linux servers run great.... except that WCs support for linux updates is god awful.

Recent changes I have personally made would be my router, and that i'm not using the dedicated server version. Also it may be heavily fragmented. I'm unsure.

Oh you know what, I've changed my internet.... I went from gig speeds in the city to 25 meg down and .75 up.. It's been slow or not starting up since that.. I wonder if internet connection helps it start up quicker.
