ARK EGS problem

i will be quick here. I launch ARK from steam and for a sec or 2 i hear the classic music of ark but then it stops and it opens Epic games launcher. Does anyone know why and how cna i fix it?

If you have both version of ark loaded and or the epic game browser open already, this may be what is causing it? If you do not have ark installed on epic, epic browser not opened either and just have steam and the game on steam installed, this doesnt happen.

i dont have ark installed on epic and neither have the epic browser opened it just happens

And this is happening from you clicking ark in the steam library only. Not from doing some other method(like icon or 3rd party etc

Unlike Steam, which is a DRM, with most games tied to it. Epic has a fairly negligible portion of DRM games. Unfortunately, ARK is one of them. So when you launch the game, it's going through the process of communicating to the Epic client for authentication. Sees you don't own the game, and takes you shopping.

Try exiting everything. Restart your PC. It should resolve the problem. Otherwise, if you haven't already, Epic Games has a decent subreddit where you can possibly check for help.

Have you solved the problem? I can't start ARK over steam without EGS going in my way. I have tried launching it by clicking the desktop icon, tried opening it via library, via nitrado and I tried opening directly from folder. It isnt possible. EGS is blocking it. Please help.

try keeping EGS closed while you launch it? as in so the process is not running at all

Thanks for your reply. I had EGS closed, it started automaticly when I tried to launch ARK.
I solved the problem myself just now, for everyone having this problem:

- go to your ARK directory where the shooter game exe is located
- look for 2 files in this directory that has something with epic games or EGS in the title (hover the mouse over files to see full name)
- delete this 2 files
- start ARK

- if it now doesnt try to launch at all, check your antivirus, my antivirus blocked it after deleting the epic game files
